Thanks CQ, glad we cleared that up. Just showing your post to OH..... niow we can continue having lovely curries with the rest of the sauce.
Thanks for all the info it's very much appreciated0 -
A lot of garlic keeps me awake aswell. I don't avoid it, garlic bread is OK etc, but for example garlic mushrooms, which you'd have as a starter is a no go area for me if I want sleep. I don't get palputations, I'm just wide awake!!:j0

I am going to have a go at makeing the wonderful C_Q sauce that everyone loves so much. I have a few questions though (typical I know!!) Right first of all I only have a hand blender, do you think this will still make the sauce smooth enough? I have used it before to mix garlic and it was still a little lumpy but I have never used to for onion. I will chop everything up as much as possible but just wanted to know if anyone else has tried it with a hand blender?
Also has anyone tried to make a Tikka masala (sp?) ? That is the kind of curry we like best and I really wanted to make it but I am not sure how to get a tikka from the base sauce?
Sorry for asking silly questions but I get upset if I cook something and it goes wrong so I like to make sure I am on the right path before I begin! Thanks a million if you can help.0 -
I take it by hand blender you mean one of those stick blenders? If so, I was actually going to try this method myself this time to see if it worked as well as I usually use my food processor or jug blender, but it just creates more washing up
... (anything for an easy life
)
Now, Chicken Tikka Masala ... sheesh you lot are impatient
I have figured out a sauce for it, and someone has actually tried it out and said it was lovely! ... but I've yet to try it myself, which, as luck would have it, I was actually planning to do tomorrow or Friday!
I've not had chance yet to work out the Chicken Tikka part but I should imagine it will be a variation on the Tandoori Chicken that I made for the Murgh Makhani, and prepared/cooked in the same way, as the person who requested the recipe off me had already sorted out that part.
The Masala sauce is also a variation of the Makhani sauce, so the recipe and method can be found in the recipe file, and if I remember rightly, involves omitting the ground almonds and exchanging the chilli powder for paprika, giving a much milder sauce (with less calories!) ... oh, and using oil in place of the butter/ghee to cook it in too
I might yet tweak the recipe once I've tried it myself, but that should give you a very nice basic masala sauce

Thank you so much!
Yes it is a stick blender, I will give it a go and hope that it works properly, let me know how your attempt goes and I will do the same.
I wont be using chicken anyway as I am a veggie, so all I need to make is the sauce and I will add Quorn to it.
So I need to look for the other recipe and swap a few things over. Right I will look that one up and see if I can work it out. I will let you know how it goes, fingers crossed.
Thanks again :-)0 -
Purplegirl, I don't have a food processor and used my stick blender to do the base sauce and it worked out very smooth, no lumpy bumpy bits at all.
Oh and Curry Queen, thank you soo much for your recipes, we've been having your curry for the past two weeks (no, not every day, lol!) and its fab! I was hoping to find a massala sauce as well as thats definately my favourite curry! Thats tea for friday night sorted :j !

After lurking here a while, I tried out the korma and the bhuna and they were fantastic!
Thanks a lot Curry Queen!
Can I ask if you happen to have a recipe for Passanda and Patia? I have found a few online, but I like the onion base and the easy method of just adding the spices etc to the base.
Thanks a lot!

Big thankyou to Curry Queen
I've been looking for a home made curry sauce for ages and I'm glad I've stumbled upon this one.
I made a batch up of the base sauce yesterday (note to self, buy bigger onions next time for chopping  )
And made my first Chicken Bhuna today, and froze the rest of the sauce for later.
And it was blummin loverly :T0 -

If you go to the first post in this thread, about half-way down it there are the links (typed in blue) to the recipes I added at a later date. Click on Murgh Makhani and it will take you straight to the post with the recipe on it"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"
