Hi, Stephen  That sounds delicious. I'll add it to the main smoked salmon thread so that more people will see it.

    Nice easy one:

    smoked salmon
    Creme fresh
    Asparagus
    Pasta.

Cook the pasta and asparagus, then add the veg to creme fresh, which is heating nicely in the saucepan then add the smoked salmon.

    Takes minutes and tastes lovely

This thread looks like a good home for this one, too ...

For an impressive breakfast for two, do scrambled eggs on toast but add a small packet of smoked salmon. Cut the salmon into 2cm (1 inch) pieces. Scatter the pieces on top of the egg. Serve with orange juice and coffee, or even a Buck’s Fizz (champagne and orange juice).

  • Yesterday I bought some fresh salmon fillets reduced from £6 to £1.50 but when I got home I discovered they were not fresh but smoked. I am not sure what to do with them. Smoked salmon usually comes in thin slices but these are thick fillets with their skin on. I have frozen them until I can find out what to do with them.

I have searched google but the recipes I find seem to be for cold thin smoked salmon.

Please has anyone tried these or knows what to do with them?
  • Personally I would put a few drops of lemon juice on them, wrap them loosely, so the air can circulate and they will steam at the same time, in foil and bake in the oven for about 20 mins you don't want to empower them with more flavours because of the smoky flavour to them. Serve with buttered new potatoes and a salad yum! and healthy too!

We got some of the lightly smoked salmon fillets from M&S last week in their dine in for £10 offer. My OH made this http://www.waitrose.com/recipe/Salmon_Layer_Bake_with_Potatoes,_Fresh_Dill_and_Cream.aspx
which was very yummy indeed :D very light and subtle flavours that went so well with the smoked salmon.

I'd whizz them in a blender with some lemon juice, cream cheese and fresh herbs (tarragon or dill) and make smoked salmon pate. Yum Yum.

They are probably raw smoked salmon fillets (the large fillets that you buy in this way tend to be lightly smoked raw fish) and do need to be cooked. I could be wrong though (probably am :D)
smoked salmon pate sounds fab must try that some time :)

I got the lightly smoked salmon fillets from Morrisons - as suggested either wrap them in foil or put them in a pyrex dish with lid on and cook in oven - we had new potatoes and brocolli with ours and it was delicious (and healthy)
