  • Just defrost the smoked salmon in the fridge, and eat it as is.
The smoking and curing process has the same effect as cooking it (killing bacteria etc).

I reckon the best way to have it is in a sandwich/roll/bagel with philadelphia style cream cheese.

Edit: Just saw the other thread! lol

My favourite way to have it is in a roll/bagel (or baguette) with philadelphia style cream cheese (with garlic and herbs if I can get it).
It is nice in brown bread as well, but tiger bread is equally nice!

Slice smoked salmon into thin strips and toss it into cooked pasta with a little creamy sauce or stir it into creamy, buttery scrambled eggs.

oops sorry, me too! Just seen my ideas already posted on the other thread
  • If you don't want to eat it "cold" then you could also make a smoked salmon carbonara - using spaghetti or linguine and make a creamy sauce to go with it, along with some onions and peas or sliced peppers if you want a splash of colour.
  • Hi there

I've always found frozen smoked salmon to be a bit stronger when thawed so you may not need too much.

My personal favourite is brown soda bread (M&S), boiled egg chopped with some cream and a wee bit dill and the salmon. YUM!!

It's not for the fainthearted I have to say but delish

I picked up a smallish packet off this, offcuts, in Waitrose today, it was whoopsied.
I fancy making a pasta sauce. I don't have cream or creme fraiche but I have got some cream cheese (like philly but not). I think the cream cheese will be too thick to make a sauce, can I thin it a bit? How? Thinking of the cream cheese sauce with the salmon, capers and dill in it - that sounds good, I think?
Oh I've got a bit of white wine too, if I can use that to thin the cheese?

i'd put the cream cheese in a saucepan, and add a bit of milk to thin it slightly.

when simmering, add the rest of the ingredients and immediately add the cooked pasta and stir.

    yum :D

Let it down with a bit of milk, that should be fine, particularly if it's full fat 'own brand' philly rather than a low cal one
