thanks HMKN!
Not sure if my OH is 'letting' me do this! I think I just said, 'I'm roasting a pig's head tomorrow. If you don't fancy it, there's pasta!' Am I a bad wife?!
I certainly don't think so...been reading through the USDA thread and it seems like he's happy enough to go along...
Saw trotters in my butchers yesterday and I thought of you!
Right, well I have a challenge of sorts! I've been asked to do a roast on saturday, we've got the chicken (from m+s's half price thingy, plus I get discount, oh yeah!) but I want to find out how to do the rest of the stuff. Can make mash and boil carrots, but does anyone have a foolproof (BIG fool) recipe for the likes of roast spuds and parsnips as I have also used frozen one and wanna branch out, plus I wanna do something yummy for pudding. So all ideas, shopping directions and helpful tips accepted...I have a Mr T and A close and a Mr M visitable. Also (obviously) a M+S ( I get 20% discount). Now MARRIED!11/09/100 -

Not got an easy yo but it will come with instructions surely (you can use this recipe in there too you dont need the fancy cultures )
Whizzed(technical term for liquidizing) fruit with a little icing sugar makes a good fruit flavouring

I use the following "recipe" for yoghurt making - can do this in a flask or in an easyyo maker and there is no heating of milk! :
First preheat flask with boiling water, then pour out the water, fill to near the top with UHT milk and 1-2 tablespoons of natural yoghurt (value plain works), screw top on, give a little shake and leave for at least 8hrs.
Full UHT milk gives a really thick yoghurt (this is what we prefer) and skimmed gives more of a "drinking" yoghurt.
Make sure you keep 2 tblsp of each batch you make and freeze/keep in fridge - this will form the starter of your next batch. You can do this for about 8 batches. I keep a couple of tubs of 2tblsp of bought yoghurt in my freezer for further starters.0 -

MRI is not too bad - I was able to keep my own clothes on (no bare botty!) but couldn't wear anything with metal (that includes an underwired bra!). Just had to keep still - took about 40 minutes for me. Good luck!0 -
I finally got round to making the lentil pate and must admit its gorg! Shame the bread rolls I'm making won't be ready for lunchtime! Also cooked some sausages to make sausage and bean casserole for dinner for me & kids,
going off to do some cleaning now as my house resembles a tip, god the summer hols are going to be a nightmare!:eek:0 -

Have made another decision, going to excavate and do something different with piggies brain, as this is the part that DH is most offended by.:o I shall make a kind of escallop, like that mad pair on youtube, and sprinkle with herbs.
They added lemon juice, but I haven't got any, and parsley, which, again, I've none of, but I'll substitute lemon thyme.
I'l roast the rest of the head in 2 halves.
Gulp, ISOM'll be here in a min. I'm a bit scared! Will keep you all posted!
