19p dinner for me tonight, and just what I fancied! Nomnomnom.....
the asda smart price sausage and the HM bread (not shown!) were the bits I paid for, but the salad, (including the thinnings from the beets and carrots) and cucumber I grew, and the rhubarb and ginger chutney (far right- nomnomnom) was a gift from the lovely shaz:A, to commemorate the end of the last challenge.
I'm too stuffed for a pud, so I think that's a pretty good result! :T
Love Weezl x

great tip DebbieMc, thank you!
Just downloaded Mrs Beeton, as given in Stephen Leak's new thread - Fab!
I think there will be some great recipes, but I'm too busy chortling at her manners advice at the mo:
[FONT="]IN RECEIVING MORNING CALLS, the foregoing description of the etiquette to be observed in paying them, will be of considerable service. It is to be added, however, that the occupations of drawing, music, or reading should be suspended on the entrance of morning visitors. If a lady, however, be engaged with light needlework, and none other is appropriate in the drawing-room, it may not be, under some circumstances, inconsistent with good breeding to quietly continue it during conversation, particularly if the visit be protracted, or the visitors be gentlemen.

reeeeeeeeeeesult! That's a bargain penny penguin! :T:T:T
Are you trying recipecal? or another one, do pop back and share your findings?;)
Wish I had been successful with courgettes. Planted 10 seeds this year, and not a single one came up!
Still everything else is doing well, so mustn't grumble!
Shaz the chutney is superb! Those spices! DH yet again wants to move in with you!:D
about the smart price sausage, I compared its meat, salt and fat content with their posh brand and it's within 1% of the same breakdown. I genuinely think it's a packaging issue. Has anyone read the 'undercover economist'?

Trying hard to convert OH into this 50p a day thing (he does most of the cooking as he's a lot better at it than me !)
Tonights meal was huge pile of cauliflower cheese with grilled bacon -nice and lean - and grilled tomatos..............worked out at about £1.50 the lot - enough for the two of us.
(Kids wanted pizza !)Mary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

Penny. x:D (I might have been going to say 'your cherries are really pretty'... but it didn't quite sound right :A :rotfl:)
That sounds absolutely delicious, and weezl  19p a portion is excellent!0 -
I make it 51p per portion :T:T:T and if we could find a better price for haricots than nearly a quid for 500g, it'd be even better!:D
Excuse my ignorance - but arent canned baked beans made from haricot beans? - in which case couldnt anyone requiring haricot beans just buy the canned baked beans and rinse the sauce off? Just a thought...0 -

Evening me lovelies! Just popping in before going to make bread & a lemon cake if I can find the recipe...all from stuff in the house (checked BB today it it was of the oh  variety - thankfully its pay day Friday & I should get a 300 tax rebate which well covers it but still!). Just made a yummy but simple pasta dish (on green Weezl!)l pasta with stir fried.cooked frozen soya beans, diced pepper (yellow for the color people!) and a smidge of tom paste all stir fried with a bit of fry light (for the non slimmers you can use olive oil) and then a bit of parmesan cheese on top. Yummy! Feel I need more though so will have pelenta caks (if I can be patient!) or HM "free" yog ice cream if I cant!! Back in a bit!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0
