Oh yes, the geek is back with a vengeance!:o

Very pleased about that!:T Thanks for the info as ever, and thankyou to everyone for the yummy recipes. I'm just sorry I don't have anything to offer in return :o

I'm having problems with my weight too, for health reasons mainly. There's a lovely supportive group called Lose Weight (currently 21 I think) on here where everyone is following different things; they're a fab group of people and it's free :T Mrs M, you are doing so fantastically well; each time I see it, I'm amazed how much more you've lost! My main problem is sheer frustration with my illness; I simply eat because of that  :o

Just been checking some of my "groceries"

Have some bread needs using, and a couple of eggs, and some milk as well (jersey milk bought as a Whoopsie, that was destined for a rice pudding) and am wondering if I could do a bread and butter type pudding using some of my blackberries instead of dried fruit? Or would the berries curdle the milk?

have shifted 8st 1lb since the 17th AUG last year

    Flippin' heck - that's fantastic!

How have you done that then? Sounds like sensible eating, as in reduced calorie, cut the crap? That's an awful lot of weight to lose which must have required some major changes.

I set myself a target of losing 3 stone by the end of this year through sensible eating and daily cardio exercise, from nothing. I have lost 4 inches off my waist, but not a single pound on the scales (nor reduction in BMI weirdly). It's just not going to happen and I'm thinking about an actual diet now - ala Atkins, low fat etc. Cringing at the thought admittedly. But needs must. So interested to hear your 'plan.'

you say you're doing exercise. this (combined with the inch loss) says to me you've been burning off fat while building up muscle -- and muscle weighs considerably more than fat. I've been told in the past to keep a track of "inch loss" as well as "weight loss" -- then when my weight stagnates I'm likely to still see a drop in inches (though it does seem to take a lot longer for those to be noticable!)

  • Thanks so much to you all. I LOVE this thread! Everyone has such Brill ideas and I love to hear what everyone is up to! Thanks for the Dahl recipe. sounds delish so I will be doing that this weekend when I do a big Indian meal evening :D (sounds impressive but its just me and DH....Hey it WILL be the WEEKEND!!!)

Hopefully by then I will be feeling a bit better. I seem to have picked up a tummy bug :( so using the time to catch up on this thread :)

Thanks for the Muffin recipe's too. I REALLY want to make muffins! I have been looking for a cheap muffin Tray. but where I look they look so expensive??!!!! and I can't justify it at the moment as it is soon our 1st Anniversary and I have been buying hubby lots of icul prezzies. Can't wait! :j:j:j:j:j

Although....(back to the muffin tray).....i thought I COULD use the tray to make Yorkshires too?! So maybe will have to splurge! Anyone know where I can get a cheap one?

Thanks again. Keep up the good work! (and recipe's!):T:T:T

On the subject of weight, I am also a little on the heavy side (read as 6 stone over ideal). I used to be very active when I was at school, something to be said for P.E, not to mention the fact that my school had a pool and I swan at lunch too. Since leaving school I've got less exercise and my eating has gotten worse and worse. I'm looking if I make any of my five a day....which sounds really terrible,I'm really jealous of all the people (Mrs M I'm looking at you here) who seem to just consume tonnes and tonnes, I want to do that. I don't exercise at all any more really, I walk a bit, living in the centre of the city means plenty of places to go awandering, I can even manage to go out and not spend money, we have a beautiful large green space nearby (Queens Gardens if anyone knows the area) but I really don't take advantage. I did do some jogging when I was training for race for life, and meant to keep it up, but without the goal, I've no motivation. I'd love to join something like weightwatchers, but I can't really afford it and I'm frightened of large groups of people, I know their all really nice and all that stuff but I not really logical about that stuff. I thought about the tablets, but after everything everyone says, maybe not.

Oh my God, I've written an essay.

Im a 'know what I need to do , just a need a reason to do it' sort of girl....

I lost over 3 stone in the year before my elder grand-daughter was born. I'm another can't stand the thought (or cost) of any of these face-to-face groups, but instead joined an on-line site ( https://www.weightlossresources.co.uk - hope I'm OK to mention it, as they're not in conflict with MSE). The fee for a month is/was about the same as one week at any of the other schemes if you take out a 'subscription', and the best bit was that there was nearly always someone on-line to talk me out of chomping for the sake of it. Unfortunately, once I stopped using the site the weight all slipped back on -- but I'm seriously considering signing up again before the end of the year.
