Hope Weezl and Acetate monkey are ok after the minor plumbing incident! <<hugs>>
I almost managed to get down to weezlish frugality with a happy find on Monday. Found a packed of slimming world friendly flavoured cous cous for the pricely sum of 10p - one of them will do my lunch very nicely! popped back (well, didn't mean to, I meant to go to home bargains but it was shut so I found myself in its neighbouring cheapy store, which is generally a bit more expensive but does occasionally have these wonderful bargains!) and bought 15 packets!
... and since HB was closed I will be popping back yet again this lunchtime - and don't think I will be able to resist more cous couses! I figured even if I get bored of them you can add chopped bits and bobs to liven it up. So guess what I'm having for lunch for the rest of eternity?!:rotfl:
My next month's food and grocery budget is £1.71 a day - so I have started a weezl style spreadsheet that breaks down the cost per portion of my ingredients - did you know that 1/4 packet of tesco value pasta is 5p?! and that is a large portion. I feel extremely geeky now.
I DO stuffed peppers with couscous and "things" !!!!! :Di put alsorts in it! pop in half peppers in oven for 10 mins then fill with couscous and "stuff" to top with bit of grated cheese and bake for bout 20 mins. it brill! My hubby loves it! Tho he luv's anything I dohe great! he says he will eat same things twice? For next night?! esp if it saves in £!!!!!!! He loves Pasta and italian esp. he sooooo like me
:p tho I try to vairy my menu if I can..... :rolleyes2
He still wonderful tho!0 -

Foxy-tigger, I had forgotton about stuffed peppers, thank you for that! mum used to make them for us all the time, so that'll bring back memories.
MrsMcCawber - the soyabean thing sounds divine, I nearly bought some dried soyabeans yesterday but didn't really know what to do with them. Bit silly I guess, seeing as I use beans and pulses all the time! I tried a tin of baked (soya) beans last week and wasn't too sure about the taste - but I must look up the health benefits becuase they are supposed to be very good aren't they?
Puzzledbubbles, I can confirm frozen sandwiches work, I only really believed that last week!I think if you follow the link on page 1 post 1 on here all weezl's sandwich recipes are on there. I tried the lentil one, just without any fat. 'twas scrummy!:T
Weezl, not only do you have devoted acolytes (known as weezl-ites), now you have been elevated to godess!!:eek:0 -
I've been having a wander around the thread again & found a couple of sites that discuss the merits of buying a joint of meat--more specifically bacon--with the intention of using solely for cold cuts. Shall I post them for you, along with the sandwich filler ideas I've stumbled on?

Morning all
Foxy-Tigger.. my hubby is just like yours :T It takes the pressure off doesn't it:D .. Left to his own devices he would live on,,, chicken dinner , Hm bread/baguettes -with cheese salad on, jacket potato, salad n cottage cheese -or tuna mayo, hm chilli n rice oh and any pasta dish i concoct :rotfl: ohhh and marmite or poached egg on toast..
He really is an easy little soul to feed :j ... like you I try to put more variety into our meal plans.... but we still slip back into.... roast chicken dinner , jacket n cottage, pasta bake (varying depending on what wants using) -they appear every week or we feel like we are missing something:o
Naturally - I got the soya beans for "healthy" reasons..i just soaked them overnight and then started them boiling before adding to the casserole so they could soak up some flavours
I have just snook outside during the break in the rain and got a few more bits from the tubs outside :j you can click on it to make it bigger if need be
The aubergine doesn't look very big -but i wanted him whilst he was still shiney (at his best)-plus i just know a slug would munch him if i left him much longer  ... it still weighs just under 1lb, the courgette 12oz and just over 2lbs of tomatoes
I have 4 more aubergines on -just waiting for them to get a bit bigger;)
Guess what we are having in our pasta concoction tonight :rotfl:
Right im back off to my sewing..have a great day everyone -will be back later for a nosey...
Thinking of you ISOM.. hope all goes well -make the most of the rest-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50
