I've tried that one before -- but he and hubby would happily get stuck into cooking curries, and the smell of them turns my stomach!! I can't even walk past an Indian take-away without heaving !!!!!!!!!

You and my husband,.... and I have a best friend who is from India and we couldn't cook a curry in the house because it made OH heave_pale_

Our next door neighbours are Indian -- and as they moved in (a couple of years after us), one of the first things I did was tell them that if they see me wave and run rather than stop to say hello it's not something they've done..... or nothing more than having a rather strong curry on the go anyway :rolleyes2

They looked rather startled at the time, but did seem to appreciate the warning ;)

think I may have put too many lentils into the bolognese sauce though !! don't think I'm going to be able to hide the fact they're in there, so the blokes will have to be told they were added to 'pad out' the meal (implying there's still some mince in there somewhere)

hope your meal goes down well! i do quite alot of 'implying' with my meals!

we're just about to have the remainder of the sauce i made for my lasagne last week with some added fresh basil (39p for HUGE pot, still growing nicely from mr T !) smells yummy.

DH is telling everyone how he has eaten nettles, and is quite proud of himself about that one meal. (little does he know that i have been adding a few to most vegetable based sauces since then!!!!;) )

I'm quite enjoying it -- just waiting on verdict from the blokes.

Hoping they [STRIKE]like[/STRIKE] eat it, as the quantity I made up was far too much for one meal -- so half of the bolognese sauce is headed for the freezer (just about have room for it I think!)

But the best bit is that the meal (including garlic bread) has come in at less that the average per meal from last month (by 4p a head) :T

    Evening all :D

Well i managed to bag some bargains today.. €10.50s worth -should have been €27.59  Most of it was butter, marge, creme fraiche etc that has been frozen for the coming months;) Also got some fresh chinese style pork goujons... 500g packs for €1.. i got both.... and when i was bagging them up for the freezer there was actually 700g per pack :j ....so that has gone into the freezer... will have it done in tortilla wraps for a nice quick tasty meal.

My super find today was some metal rose arches for the garden... i thought they were priced up wrong..they are 8ft x 4ft 6" x 2ft.. and just €2 each -cheaper than buying more canes..and sturdier:eek: :T ..i grabbed 5 :p planning on growing beans, peas, squash up them next season -hopefully resulting in a better crop of everything:T
They come in pieces so i can adapt them and im tinkering with putting 2 about 3ft apart then covering with some old mosquito pannels (from a broken gazebo) so next year i can have cabbage etc -safe from the cabbage white bloomin butterfly..... im sooo tempted to get a few more in the morning :o

We have just had a "one pot wonder" for dinner... simply cut some potatoes into big chunks, throw in some chunks of onion, and sausages.. i had to add a drop of oil as i make my own sausages -so no fat comes out ;) .. roast in the oven..when nearly done add some big chunks of carrot and a mug of water (you may need more later on)and bang back in the oven... once cooked stir in some gravy granules and frozen peas and put back in the oven until thickened.... one thing to wash,, and its really tasty -and easy to adapt according to what you have in....

I have sat this afternon going through my seeds.. and am just listing them so i know what others i want to try next year..
I seem to be rather taking to this "getting organised" ... need to get stuff sorted for winter now too..draught excluders etc..

Right i had better get some more done...will catch up with you all later..have a great evening everyone

Lasagne appears to have been a success :j

I did it in individual dishes, as I thought the blokes were less likely to 'see' the innards of it served that way -- and there's a completely empty bowl from hubby in the kitchen (and nothing in the bin 'cos I checked!)

Only comment from son has been "it's a bit dry.... must be all those vegetables you added!!" If only he knew

ETA: He's now told me he's "finished but not finished". He's decided it was the lasagne sheets that were too dry, so has eaten all the bolognese and cheese sauces but pulled out the pasta sheets (and scraped everything else off them so it is just pasta being binned).

Lesley Gaye - thank you so much for that!! I've had a bag of gram flour in my cupboard for ages (and it's now approaching the use by date), but now I can make something fantastic to put in my lunchbox for work :D

In other news, I haven't been very frugal today, but I did get my wedding dress. :)
