368 days to go
my dress was £120, and I made the dresses for my bridesmaids and the outfits for my pageboys myself. My Dad coudn't believe how "lightly" he got off when comparing the cost of my wedding to those of the daughters of his friends!!!Cheryl0 -
Lasagne appears to have been a success :j
I did it in individual dishes, as I thought the blokes were less likely to 'see' the innards of it served that way -- and there's a completely empty bowl from hubby in the kitchen (and nothing in the bin 'cos I checked!)
Only comment from son has been "it's a bit dry.... must be all those vegetables you added!!" If only he knew
ETA: He's now told me he's "finished but not finished". He's decided it was the lasagne sheets that were too dry, so has eaten all the bolognese and cheese sauces but pulled out the pasta sheets (and scraped everything else off them so it is just pasta being binned).

thats great! well done!!! what was wrong with the lasagne sheets??? !!!!
and congratulations frugalswan, i still remember the excitement of getting mine over 10 yrs ago. ( and the excitement when i finally got it cleaned a couple of years ago  and tried it on, AND IT STILL FITTED!!:D ) and i still love it. just don't know when i'll wear it again. i 'know' i ought to get it turned into something else/dyed etc, or pass it on, but i can't!

what was wrong with the lasagne sheets???
Plus son was correct in that the bolognese sauce wasn't as "runny" as my normal ones -- so less liquid for the sheets to absorb I guessCheryl0 -

Plum Pie, could you give us the recipe for your brown rice and coconut and currant flapjacks? They sound really good!0

Calling our Weezl.....we still loves ya gal.....are you well? Will we be missing your presence much longer gal?:D0

Did anyone hear on the news yesterday about how much the price of food has increased? And how we as consumers are being tricked with smaller packaging sizes for the same price? They cited chicken, chocolate and packs of cans of cider as examples.
I wonder if our Weezl will allow for inflation (4% I think at the moment) - that would make it 52p a day - not got quite the same ring about it has it?!
So if Weezl managed to stick to it, she is actually doing even better than she originally intended to! Amazin'!0 -
I didn't hear the news, but it's certainly frightening me how much things have gone up every time I go into the supermarkets. Last week alone (in Mr T) the value bread went up by 6p and the value bananas by 8p (I think it was 8p, was at least 6p -- and hubby gets through 2 of those a week!) When I was in on Monday night the value bananas were only 1p/kg cheaper than the loose ones, so I got the loose as I could get all the size and ripeness that he likes bestCheryl0

I'd certainly agree with that. I did pot roast chicken last night, and I'd normally get 3 dinners for the 3 of us, plus stock, from the chicken I buy, and last night I looked at the leftovers and there is no way there is another 2 meals there. I don't think we ate more than normal last night, so the chook must have been a good bit smaller than usual.0
