Hi weezl
I've got loads of Bocking 14! If you want a bit it's pretty damn tough and I'm sure it would survive a trip through the post - I'm due to harvest it anytime so I'd be happy to dig you up a bit... consider it a small repayment for the fab recipes and inspirationTo be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else - means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting.

Hiya zarazara,
LOL:rotfl:I did see that too, but they reckoned if we have it a max of 3 times a week we'll be ok! I'll look more into the nutrition soon...:T
Knitting nelly, that's so kind, thank you. Internet friends are the best!

All you need to do is have a wander up to my chukky friend who will be there on Sat and ask him to confirm! Sure he would be happy to & feel free to make him a cuppa at my place!!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -
Well I thought I should try my halva recipe before foisting it on anyone else. And the verdict is... interesting. Unlike anything else in the world that I can think but definitely worth a try if you are in posession of an excess of carrots. Can be served hot or cold
340g carrots, peeled and grated
90ml water
1/4 tsp ground cardamom or 3 whole cardamom pods (I substituted these for some random spices... naughty sianey, lack of cultural respect...)
Pinch of saffron (yeah right!)
180ml milk
55g sugar
1tsp melted butter/ghee
almonds to decorate
Mix grated carrot, water, cardamom in a large pan. Bring the water to the boil then lower the heat and cover. Heat gently for an hour, stirring occasionally
Add the milk and sugar and simmer for another hour
Add the butter/ghee and evaporate the milk on a low heat (usually takes about 15 mins and leaves very little water in the carrots)
Serve decorated with almonds (when I had it before it had been put into a little mould which looked pretty)
Recipe is from "The curry book" (Clarion) which was 10p in The Works, I think because it looks a little 1980s, great recipes in. Lots of cheap recipes though a lot are deep fried so wouldn't meet the healthy part of the thread title...God is good, all the time

At the risk of being a pain in the proverbial...
Netto penne pasta is 19p for 500g... that's less than 4p a serving if my calculations are correctGod is good, all the time
