    :D Hi Weezl!
Just wondered whether you'd done any experimenting with black treacle. I know it's high in sugar but my understanding is that it's also a very good source of vitamin A [please correct me if I'm wrong]. It's only 27p a tin in Mr T and thought it might be another way to bring in flavour on a tight budget. I use it in ginger cake but am going to investigate other recipes in due course to see what else it might be suitable for [can you tell I've got nearly a whole tin left after making my Mum's birthday cake at the weekend:D

My friend adds it to porridge (well mollasses, but it's the same isn't it?) for a reasonably healthy breakfast. Treacle is also high in iron I believe, so good for veggies/vegans, and women in general.

Thanks for that NemoToad. You're quite right it is iron not vit a [that's liver]...I remember now that one of my students had been vegan and then latterly veggie for many years and was trying to up her iron intake and treacle was one of the things she used. Apologies for my misinformation...I appear to have misplaced the jar that has my brain in it today!

I tried the red lentil pate this weekend and it's lovely - weirdly I must have done something wrong as don't think that it will make as many portions as the recipe says but still very nice - tried it with cheese crackers and will also do some ryvita with it for lunches etc. Have frozen 4 little pots and the other 2 pots are in the fridge for use this week (got 6 tupperware pots for £1 from Poundstretcher).

Also made Sag Aloo which is delicious and also some in the freezer for dinners...

Yoghurt is my next project - tried to make some last night but it didn't work - tonight I will use my slow cooker ;o)

I think saturdays energy fest wore me out, I've spent the last 24 hours feeling sooooooooooooo tired. But ah well, I'm a lil more awake now so I'm gonna do some tidying (spent yesterday and this morning at w***) how can two people make such a mess, and we're both grown-ups!!! I just don't understand it.

Phizzimum - the lemon cake recipe makes glorious buns....well, made at least. Gonna have to make some more for pack-up coz they were so yummy!

When I was at home mum always said we went through about 1 per person, per week :o
That's the figure I work on when we're at home full-time, but when someone's at work/school/college it drops to about half a roll for that person ;)

I have absolutly no idea how many loo rolls we go through, I'm really curious about it now...by cw18's theory we should go through 1 per week, coz there's 2 of us and we both work lots, but I bet we go through more, oh is now going to think I'm even crazier measuing the length of time a loo roll lasts...:rotfl:

hello, sorry to barge in:D . Just popping over from my usually haunts. This thread is very inspirational, I have been lurking for a few week. I'm keen to try the no knead bread: can anyone tell me if I could use this recipe to make rolls?

Went and got myself a slow cooker today..... My only specifications were 6.5 litre (minimum!), removable/washable bowl, and preferably a glass lid.

Wasn't planning on getting one until after pay day (31st), but having a really bad day with a company I thought had agreed to deliver some stuff today -- only to find on phoning them this morning their system isn't even showing anything still outstanding from the previous FOUR attempts at delivering the order -- so a touch of retail therapy was required (though it had to be on something I need rather than splurge spending) which saw me heading out to a local retail park.

Started off in Comet. They didn't have the 48715 (recommended by a number of friends on a crafting forum at £22.64 from Tesco Direct), but they did have the 48718 -- at a staggering £34.99. My mobile has internet on it (and my package includes unlimited surfing), so I hooked up and used a comparison site a friend had given me a link to for the 48715 - and found the 48718 for £34.49, so not a lot cheaper elsewhere.

Couldn't see what the difference was to make it worth the extra £12+ so hopped over to the Morphy Richards site -- only to find they had the 48718 for £24.99 with free delivery. Comet wouldn't price match as MR "aren't a retailer", so I said fine and left.

Then went into Curry's (next door) and they had the 48715 -- at £34.99  So I connected back up to the comparison site, and waved the £22.64 price at a sales assistant. He clearly knows Tesco Direct, as he started to say something about delivery charges -- which I quickly put a damper on by saying 'but by the time I add on the other bits I want from them I can pick it up from a store without any extra charge' (free with orders £25 or over -- I didn't really want anything else but I wasn't telling him that :rotfl: )

So Curry's knocked £12.35 off the price to match the £22.64 and knocked off an extra £1.20 to drop it to £21.44  I assume their price match promise should give you an extra 10% of the difference, which should really have been £1.23 but I wasn't going to quibble over 3p

So a major result thanks to the link from a friend :T
