thanks shaz for that link. think that will work better than plum pies one which i had in mind, as I'm going to make coconut cake and this will give a bit more variety if that makes sense?
my youngest is 6 (sooo much energy at that age!) maybe there's some way we could harness all this excess energy - a makeshift generator to produce free electricity, like a hamster's treadmill?
one pack of loo rolls? can't be true, especially with all those lentils :rotfl:weaving through the chaos...0 -
brilliant linkies plum pie, thanks loads. Curing the jowls as bacon sounds superb. I know what to do with my next pig's head!
:D
Mate, you should have seen me when my friend (who is subscribed to your blog, as per my suggestion) started talking about it... I was so excited, I couldn't wait to tell you! :j :rotfl:0 -

My elder son (19) finished the last part of his training on 27th July -- though he didn't go to Army College to do it. He came home on 31st (pay day, so he could afford the fuel then!), and flew out to his permanent base in Germany yesterday. While home he tended to disappear out with mates around 8pm, stagger in long after everyone was in bed (between 2am and 4am), and then sleep until tea was ready at 6pm!!! Finally managed to get him to start putting his washing (90% of which he's brought home with him) through the machine last Wednesday
I have a local friend who's son is starting Army College soon -- probably the same time as yours. Think it's Scotland somewhere, as I seem to recall her saying that was where he went for interviews/medicals...... is that likely to be the same place as your son?Cheryl0 -

morning everyone hope you are all well...
weezle follwed your original thread (fantastic )certainly helped me to cut down and try some new recipes...and now this one welldone to everyone whos managing on so little am trying but not succeding to your extent maybe if i adoptedd dd out i could :rotfl: only joking.really writing to say how proud i am off my bruv and sil it always seemed as if they had branded everything in their cupboards and fridge and spent a fortune no value stuff. but now with all the hike in fuel bills day to day living etc theyve completely turned around nearly everything. now its value stuff in the trolley (and they admitted on 90% of it they can't tell the difference) they have planted all sorts of veg and salads in their garden dsil is cooking loads from scratch and not throwing food away as she would have done before.and there is even talk of chickens.
weezl were your ears burning yesterday as bruv and sil did us a bbq and you were the enjoyable topic of conversation on your amazing lifestyle.bruv and sil were gobsmacked after reading some of your posts and you have fired up their imaginations to do even more altho sil says sorry but no pigs head in a million years....so to sum up welldone weezl for proving to people it can be done and for converting people and a big well done to bruv and sil who i know will be following your thread too :T:T0 -
Sammy that's a very kind offer, but I'm a bit inundated with Tom plants, and a very hectic watering schedule! We're coming your way soon hon, on a trip to Gower hunting for marsh sampphire, we'll wave as we go past (me and ISOM and maybe Mr Weezl too!) or maybe if you and Ben fancy a day by the sea we might see you there?...:D;)
Lol
Aye, when you see the port talbot shopping centre wave to the right and im in that valley!
Now as long as you dont come into my valley stealing all me brambles then we wont have issues - you can keep you bog plant to yourself(lol thats what bf jsut called it)
Have found a lovely little bramble patch, away from the main road, surrounded by hedgerow, saw an elderly gent picking them last year and asked if it was a goodcrop and he said yes it was good but in the middle was better but its so steep he cant get down into the little sort of gully that has the plants running along them - it leads to stables. So i have said ill pick those and leave the crop on the top row for him which he happily agreed. May just ask him his address next time i see him and drop off a jar of bramble jam and an apple and bramble pie for givng me the heads up on nice pickings.
my mother in law has also said if there are lots in there she will make bramble pies from them if i take some up as long as she can have one for her and hubbies pudding and Ive said ill make some bramble jam for her in return for a pack of bacon burgers which bf loves that she gets free from a little butcher near her caravan at the end of the day. Bargain!Time to find me again0 -

he lived on benfits in hostels for about 9 months, and after seeing how hard it was to survive like that / having his room broken into and belongings taken twice / talking to older chaps about how hard it was to find a job while giving a hostel as an address (and no chance of other accomodation until he had a job), he decided the Army was his best option.
have to say that although he can still be a little inconsiderate at times, on the whole he's a totally different kid now -- and I'm really, really proud of the way he's turned his life arounddoesn't stop me still feeling guilty about having turfed him out though -- felt like a complete failure as a mother at the time!!!!!
