A friend of mine who is a real spendthrift seems to have contracted frugalitis :D

She was at the hospital when DH died and has been so good since. I was going to send her some flowers but when she was at my house she was admiring my Terramundi and saying she should get one.
So I arranged for a personalised one to be delivered to her, gift-wrapped for £23.95. It arrived yesterday and she phoned me up so excited :D
She has decided to save £1 coins in it and her son has contributed £5 as well.
We are going to save to go on holiday in September 2009 to Greece which is a place I have never been :T
I need to plan ahead for things because life seems meaningless without DH to share things with at the moment.

And DS1 phoned me up to ask me if I want to go to the races on Monday :T Its ladies day and requires mega dressing up. I have only been to the races once before when I was 10 :D
I think my £20 Monsoon dress and top from Ebay will be going on an outing :j
Can you bet 10p each way
I can see I will be a severe embarassment to DS and DIL.

Hi Janey, nice to have you back!!!

BB: I was tempted by the Rough Collie next door :p but have cast my vote, hope you win.

Nicknames: I am seriously considering in changing my name here to Magster. How do you feel about it? :rotfl:

If you are wondering what I and Bails have been up to I can tell that I have had for a long time a huge list of to do things that have really been dragging me down. And now I was coming to the point that without action I would have been in real big pickle that would have required an enourmous amount of effort to sort out. So we had bit of a meeting yesterday about prioritising and I am now responsible to Bails of getting my tasks done. Two most important things got done yesterday. I have to say that at the moment I am waiting for my second wind as feeling very tired but plodding on.

Weather here yesterday was really peculiar. It was sunny and then suddenly we got couple of minutes heavy downpour and then sunny again. So one moment roads were flooding and the other you wouldn't have known it had been rained for ages.

Planning on NSD and NCD today.

I am sure there was something else I was going to say but can't remember now so better start with that to do list.

    Have a great day everybody,

    Marru

    Morning all!
Your plans sound very exciting Janey, go you! :T Sometimes focusing on the future is the best way to get through the present. I hope your eating picks up x
Marru, it's not surprising you are tired today so take it easy and only do the essentials.
Have voted for Charlie again, who is now in the lead! Go Charlie! There are now technically 3 BBs on here so might get a tad confusing :D

I managed to get OH to bed early last night (not like that!:p) so, although I still feel tired (of course), I do feel a bit more refreshed. I have been constantly trying to get him to bed earlier since we've been together - this may sound mean but if he comes to bed after me I always wake up so we have to sleep apart if we don't go at the same time, which is so not good at our age :( Anyhoo, now that he's working I'm hoping his time clock will naturally shift to more ME-friendly hours. If we apply the '2 hours before midnight = 4 hours equivalent sleep' theory, then if we went to bed at 10pm, over a year I'd have slept for a whole extra MONTH without spending any more time in bed! That's a whole lot of recovery time to help my body repair.
Got to go as off to meet a friend I haven't seen for quite a while, catch you later, have a nice day!

Not only ME friendly, but very MSE too - a whole month sleep for free, very frugal! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

    Good afternoon all :)

I am guilty of not adjusting to name changes at all, so will probably keep thinking 'Keren', but will try to remember to write BB. I don't know what it is, perhaps it's something to do with when we are young. When I first met ex's parents, they were just Mr & Mrs ...... but I had known them for several years before marrying, so found it almost impossible to call them anything else after that. In fact, after 20 years, ending in divorce, it is only now I feel comfortable calling them by their first names. I think it's an age thing - it seemed disrespectful to use anything other than formal titles when I was 'nought but a lass'. :D So, I'm afraid that you will all be called by your original MSE names, regardless of how many name changes.:rotfl: I still call old school friends by their maiden names, regardless of how many years ago they married. Worse still, a friend's sister changed her first name by deed poll in England but she can't get anyone up here to call her by the new name, least of all her family.

BB, I voted for Charlie :D Good luck with the competition.

Janey, I think you need to take stock (out the freezer) and make sure you always have at least a small mug of nutritious hm soup for lunch or dinner, that way we won't need to be hearing of any name changes from you, such as the-invisible-one or MrsGoLightly or The_BeanPole. :D Don't make me come a-knockin' just to check there's stock in! :naughty: :rotfl:

Jumblebee, I laughed at the police auction site name too, it's an instant reminder of what happenes to anything! It gets Jumblee Bee-d!

NYK - Pronunciation debate - It's neither Nick nor Nike, it's just the initials NYK. It stands for Now You Know, which was a monthly newspaper back in the 20th Century :rotfl: I've had the same name for so many years that it hardly ever even crossed my mind to change it. I did consider it once, briefly, after receiving fan mail from a handful of extremely enthusiastic New York Knicks fans who thought I was something to do with publicity! :rotfl:I did try using cyberdosh as a screen name but it kept getting shortened to 'cyber' and then I got bombarded with all sorts of weird and wonderful suggestions and invitations.
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Ha ha Lingojingo, I hadn't thought of it like that, another reason to persuade OH with :rotfl:
I always call you 'Nick' Nyk :D It's so definitely not Nike JB!
Just got back from seeing lovely friend who's having a tough time - men!! I was hoping to have a NSD tomorrow but will need to go to town and get a new diary (haven't completed my HM one in time, being fussy ) and can't keep all these dates in my head. I'll go to the library while I'm there though and read the TES so still a frugal element to the day ;) Then we're going to my gym as it's free entry for OH tomorrow :T
Done almost all my jobs for today, just got to finally get round to repotting my peppers and Christmas tree when there's a break in the (very bizarre) weather. Got home to no broken windows, so that's a relief - had visions of the kids from yesterday doing them in while I was out!

Nyk - no worries, you can call me Keren :) Long story about why I needed my user ID changing, but calling me Keren on screen isn't a problem.

thankyou to all who love Charlie and voted for him - please do the same today!

I'm having my front and back lawn currently cut for free! OH's son is at home from Uni and he is paying him to do a few jobs and he's turned up here saying his Dad has asked him to cut my lawn - in a way I feel really guilty seeing him doing it, but it seems OH is paying him for jobs he hasn't the time to do so it seems a win-win situation all round.

I need to get some figures together - is it £72 per week ?? How many weeks are there left in the year I wonder?
