    Woo Hoo lovely new thread:j :j :j

    Nyk did you get wendywitch???

Just worked out my budget and I am quite happy, I have £2136.17 left in the pot and £72.04 in my contingency fund for the stockpile challenge. I have a house FULL of food, a garden full of potential food, all my xmas pressies sorted (-money neutral), and a new allotment and chickens to look forward to. Life is Good. as Jumble Bee says "Frunchkin Power":j :j :j

Yes I was remembered! :D Thank you for caring ;)

First spends today, I had to go into town to pay my rent (had a VERY nasty letter about my rent arrears :o or should I say the arrears on the arrears ) and had to pay 80p for the car park.
I also went to change up our change savings for our holiday to be told that the Post Office no longer do this unless your a business customer and they charge you
so I could only pay 5 bags into the building society and they obviously wouldn't take my mixed bags of coins.

Ooops forgot my DD's added them on to.

look look i got a second star finally!

Brighton Belle, I have a funky shopping trolley too, all the coolest people have them!

also mumzy, how is charlie the hamster? That is my hamsters name too!!

i got a free lunch today, plus a lovely bracelet, book voucher and mini-bottle of champagne to celebrate the end of the 'orrible teens course :)

Congrats for your second star and for ending the 'orrible teens course and all the goodies!!!

I went to my local shop to get some fruits and cheese and I got so many whoopsies that I am ever so happy! I have been fancying chow mein for awhile now and they had stir fry veggies whoopsied. And even better they had whoopsied some eggs. :T
Also couldn't resist some really cheap broad beans. Any good tips for best way of using these would be most welcome.

So better try to get DD to bed so that I can go and get my stir fry going (she has already eaten at the nursery and has since been home polished off joghurt, two mandarines (or similar) and an apple and I am sure she will wrangle out couple of rice cakes and rich tea biscuits out of me before settling to bed).

    Relaxing evening everybody,

    Marru

PS I went and Googled Marru earlier after the name conversation and one of the links was to Polish Lingerie site  I didn't go further and closed down Google rather quickly.

EDIT: Oh - I went back and the first link was Japanese and I got it translated and here is
the link, how appropriate is that!

Hmm, have been number crunching and this is what I have come up with:

    4k a year challenge
    £76.50 a week

    overdraft cost: £1.25
    cleaning products: £2.30
    mobile bills: £17.50
    food: £40
    car tax: £2.50
    petrol: £20
    pet food: £3.75
    gym: £7.50
    christmas: £7.70
    birthdays: £5
    loan: £51.25

    TOTAL= £158.75

i wouldnt include overdraft fee or loan as these are effectively debt repayments and arent included in the challenge:) and yes, include your child benefit:T

Odd announcement of the week coming up :beer: In order for me to be more frugal, I'm intending to spend £35 on River Cottage membership

The theory behind this goes like this: I like to make jam, no-one likes to eat the jam I make :rotfl:I like to eat bacon, I don't like paying for watery pap, therefore I should make my own, my OH adores fish [in fact, I think he is singlehandedly responsible for the dire condition of the UK hake stocks, or lack of them!:doh::o:rotfl:] and I adore salamis, sausages, chutneys, pickles, preserved stuff. This membership gives me access to 3 online courses which would individually cost £20 .... now, bearing in mind that I have the RC books already and that OH really likes RC & Hugh's take on cooking & life, the question is, "If I buy the online courses for £35 will it be worth it if it gets me back into the kitchen and garden/butcher's/fishmonger's, thus saving me money?"

Awaiting your comments with interest [from behind the sofa!:rotfl:in case you throw things at me!!]

    DG
If you see me on here - shout at me to get off and go and get something useful done!! :D

If I say 'great idea' DG, can I have your £10 off voucher, lol?

I did notice it says membership makes a great present. Subtle hint there for your fella...would save you even more!
