NYK Theydont know, this is second time they tried to take money from my account..bank says only me should be able to set up a standing order but i havent set it up. they are investigating it and will ring me thursday
The bank is talking rubbish, in my opinion. Have a look at the link I included in previous post and see why. My bank got debited last month and, since then, 9 others I know have had the same thing done. There's a scam going on whereby they collect details via places like auction sites and then set up fraudulent direct debits using only those details.i did hatch a crazy frugal plot the other night through....i have applied for life coaching training (which i might get paid through my volunteering as they have personal development grants for long term volunteers) and apparently some life coaches charge £100 an hour!
sooooooooo if i did that, then if i got bf to move into my '1 bedroom flat', charged him rent to cover my mortgage, got him to pay the council tax.............
then i would only have to work for 16 hours a year! :rotfl:
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: GO FOR IT! I LOVE THAT PLAN! Seminars are excellent, too. Charge £99 per person for corporate seminars (minimum booking 10) or £135 per individual, sell 100 tickets, deduct £25 for hall hire, [STRIKE]talk at them whilst pointing at a flip chart[/STRIKE] do a well thought out presentation for one hour followed by question time with light refreshments, then deduct your expenses. You'd only need to do one seminar every few years if you tied it in with your exceptionally, excellent plan of frugal housesharing. The rest of your time could be spent [strike]socialising[/strike] networking. :rotfl:
DGD has been here since 9ish this morning and the sun is now trying to shine. We had loads of excitement earlier when we went careering out the back door to watch the planes swooping! That's the first time we've had 3 Eurofighters flying overhead!Sadly, gran finds this very exciting after working on airbases!

Another update, saves editing again!
I got a text message update from the great man himself, Mr Martin Lewis! OK, OK, slight exaggeration, it was from his automated CC tart alert system, but it's rather good. It reminded me that I had 6 weeks to go before my 0% rate expires on the first of my stooze cards. Pity, I was getting used to seeing a nice healthy (high interest) bank balance after filling the ISA. Must make mental note to start catching up on the stooze thread soon.
Quick question, as the tiny tax rebate should soon be arriving - is a tax rebate classed as tax free income or personal drawings? Does this go through my accounts? Marru? Anyone?
Edited in - it hasn't been paid in yet, but the oily hand cashback of £27.01 has now been added to my signature total
Catch you all later, DGD is now heading outside to fetch 'Fossy' (her bike)from the 'stable' (garden shed), so I'm going to get some weeding done while she's happy to cycle round in circles in the yard looking for snails and watching/listening for fighter jets. :rotfl:I reserve the right not to spend.

seminars? even better, now why didnt i think of that! :T
lets see, say roughly £100 net profit per person, 100 people per seminar = £10,000 = just over 6 years worth of money...if i start next year when im 25, retire when im say, 67... = about 7 hours work for the rest of my life :rotfl:This is a system account and does not represent a real person. It's only just afternoon and I can already do a positive post!
Good: Went into town today. It was absolutely pouring, and not only did we bag a free parking place, the rain eased off so we could get where we wanted to without getting soaked.
Better: While we were there, we popped into Hugh F-W's 'River Cottage' shop. It's lovely. And we popped to the back to look at cafe bit. Bit wet for the garden but the staff pointed it out to us anywhere. It's all gorgeous. We were going to buy some stuff, but had a frugal moment and didn't! We decided that we may do it when we are next there at the end of the month as a planned frugal treat with a proper budget. And plenty of time. (Frugal tip there: we'll spend the same money as we would have done today, but take twice as long because we won't be in a rush before the free parking runs out).
Best: Having not stopped for coffee, we went back to the car, which was parked near a charity shop. Nestled in the window, some beautiful BHS Wedding Collection Cream shoes. For a bargain £3. I'm a happy bunny indeed.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. :hello: everyone
today I think is going to be another NSD for me - I'm not doing anything this afternoon, and I'm at work 4-7 so that'll stop me spending anything! There's a lot of online sales at the moment, but I need to stay away! I dont have the money to spend anyway, as work haven't given me any hours
Whitewing, sounds like you've had a great day alreadygreat to hear about the shoes and the bargain!
Jumble-Bee, do the seminars! Sounds greatBe who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

It is not income, it is not a return of expenditure either. It is merely refunding you the tax that you have overpaid during that tax year. I hope I am explaining it properly. I really need to get my done as I should be getting fair amount back from last tax year and that would be nice boost for my cashflow.
I am coming down with cold and had terrible argument in the morning about pants (need to go to Mr T and by more sparkly pants for Madam). Frugal achievement of today - have left my purse home when going out as to stop myself buying chocolate.
Take care everybody!!

What I absolutely love is the way people casually toss stuff into the conversation: eg Redglass' "As it happens I'm just going to Dublin soon". That would be a major event in my frugal lifetime.
Whitewing: I reckon you could do it. I didn't mean to give the impression that I was swanning over there first class! :rotfl:The trip is actually the result of a Major Frugal Battleplan: free Ryanair flight, (online check in, hand luggage only, found via this site) plus a very cheap room shared between three of us. Guidebooks courtesy of the public library! I'm pleased with all this but if I came back with a bit more cash as a result I'd be even more pleased... hence the question about selling rings.'Whatever you dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin now.' Goethe

Hi gang:D
Been a bit of a strange day today, one of oldies set fire alarm off so had a visit from six lovely firemen:D and for a change I was dressed, usually someone sets it off when I have my jammies on:o .At breakfast club we had 5 policemen call in for bacon on toast(community relations;) )so have had lots of uniforms here today, my ladies love it:D .
Then later we had a rat in the garden area which had my ladies taking to their heels, one asked me would it be able to get to her flat upstairs, she wasn't amused when I said it didn't know how to work the buttons on the lift:rotfl: :rotfl: . Pest control came out and caught and killed it,(sorry Marru) but it wasn't a nice fancy rat it was a big fat brown rat which had probably been disturbed by the water board digging up the area and replacing old water mains.
Not much frugalising happening today but have had a no spend day:T0 -
sophiesmum,
I am very surprised that in between firemen, policemen, old folk and rats, you haven't whipped up half a dozen lemon meringues pies and a spaghetti bolognase. Having a lazy day, lol?:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them.
