Sophiesmum: What an amazing person you are and what a wonderful family. Your family has given your brother truly blessed life all this time he has been with you there are not many people out there who would do such a thing. And even now you are concentrating on giving him the best rest of his life that he deserves.

I really bow to you and am asking for "God" or "Universe" to give you all the strength and love to get through this.

Do keep reading our posts even if you don't have time to post yourself. During difficult times finding out that you are not aolone with your troubles or just finding that post that gives you the giggles is fabulous.

    Lots of love,

    Marru

Sophiesmum, we are all thinking of you and your family here too. I hope your brother is able to make the most of whatever time he has left. Don't worry about posting, even the occasional word just to let us all know you are ok. We'll all be rooting for you. Big Hugs from the north!

Mumzy, nice to see you are still managing to get online sometimes, hope you and the kids are well and that you are all organised for DS starting school; try not to cry and embarrass him when parting company at the school gates. :o

Jumble-Bee, I'd love to share some piccies of the frugal project but, until we are a little closer to it becoming reality, I have nothing much to offer, sorry. (Apart from it being bank holiday weekend and that means more hold-ups!)

I am so sorry to hear the sad news about your brother Sophiesmum. I see now where you get your caring approach from - what a selfless act to adopt a disabled child and give them the love they so deserve and need. How wonderful that your brother has had so many years of family love and happiness. I wish you all as happy a time as possible making more memories together. With much love xxx

  • So sorry to hear your news, sophiesmum. It will be a comfort to both your borther and the rest of your family, now and in years to come, I'm sure. Hugs and may the universe hold you close.

    Janey - you ok? hugs

Just popped in to say that I was a v v v naughty girl last night! I spent money on Christmas, but since I already have the budget sorted out and logged I think I may be forgiven! I maaged to get a full case of wine and instead of it being £5.25 a bottle it came out at £2.66. I would have told everyone on here about it but I only found out at about 10 last night - sorry. So, that's 4 presents neatly sorted [or at least partly sorted] and something for me to drink whilst the turkey cooks!

I'm off for the weekend now, dog in tow, so, hope everyone has a calm and enjoyable time over the Bank Holiday.

    all the best
    DG

Hi everyone hope you don't mind me joining you. I have been reading this forum for ages and getting loads of brilliant tips but only actually signed up today.

My DH and I are basically trying to live on as little as possible as we are having an unexpected (but still v wanted) baby in February and we had spent all our savings on doing our house up! If we could manage on less than £76.92/ week (4000/52 is that right?) that would be amazing as we need to save atleast £2500 to cover my wages whilst on maternity leave. I have worked out all our outgoings etc but left the info at home  so will have to update later. At the moment we have £10 a week for leisure activities and the rest is for food/bills/household etc although I would like to bring those down. We will also be doing the grocery challenge in order to try and get the food bill down.

Looking forward to getting frugal with you all :T

    Jo xx

Ps. hugs to Sophiesmum and your brother. I hope his last few months are as happy as possible x

DG I am not too bad this afternoon but having an overwhelming desire to just lie down on the settee under a duvet with the cats and eat chocolate whilst watching TV.
I think I might just give in :o
I can't keep racing around the way I have been. If I had some compost I would go and plant the new bulbs I bought but I have spent so long thinking about it that I have lost the urge now
I have done a lot of filing (paperwork, not toenails) and ironed a pair of curtains my friend gave me for the bathroom. This is "winter planning ahead" project as I have a roller blind up, insulation in the sash windows and the curtains are very heavy and lined. Our bathroom faces north and when the north wind doth blow it's perishing

    Hi Janey :hello:

The duvet/chocolate/cats sounds like a good idea. Cuddling up with my dogs on the sofa is my favourite thing to do when I'm not feeling great. hugs x

I have just read somewhere that threads are supposed to be no more than 1000 posts long.
Does this mean we have to pack up and move again?

Welcome MrsHayes and congratulations on the news of surprise 'frugalmite' due in February! You are very welcome to join us here and I can recommend practising frugality for the final few months of 2008 as a practice for next year. We will all be back again then, as this is a lifestyle now (it's very catching!) :)

    Thanks nyk :D
I have been admiring all the posters on this thread's frugalness from afar for the last couple of months and really thought it was time I plucked up the courage to join in.

I will definitely be trying to get the hang of this for the remainder of this year ready to start properly on next years challenge. Hope its still ok for me to post on this thread just to keep myself focused/motivated even if I am not doing the challenge fully? I will go over the figures tonight and update my sig so I know where I am xx
