Morning everyone!
Busy day again here which is great for the house, far less great for my health which has been deteriorating for the past month or so. I'm not even really doing anything but the constant activity and noise is taking its toll. It'll make the house a much nicer place for me to be though so I am grateful.
Quick dilemma of the day - I have a piece of equipment that a friend of OH's is interested in buying from me. It's brand new, tested out once by my dad, and I'm asking £60 ( a very fair price). He'll 'think about it for £50'. I feel he's being cheeky, especially when he knows my/our situation and has a great job with no responsibilities and saves 50% of his salary each month! In other words, £10 is nothing to him and an awful lot to us. Do I cave in and sell it to him or stick to my price (and principles) 'cos I think he's taking advantage? The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

STICK TO YOUR GUNS, BAILS. When he gets back to you, say somethging along the lines of, "I'll tell you what I'll do... £75 and it's yours!" :rotfl: If he really does want the item then he'll 'haggle' to £60. If he's just seeing a bargain and possibly taking advantage, then you already know that your item is worth more and have lost nothing by waiting longer to get the right price from someone else.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Bails I agree with Nyk. If it's worth more, he should pay more.
I'd say £60 now, or I'm putting it on ebay!!
Then again, I put everything on ebay. I bought some stickers (from ebay!) to make a birthday card, but only used 4 out of 34 (it was very difficult to find them so had to buy a lot). Anyway, I had 30 left and said to BF 'I'm going to put them on ebay', and he said 'you'd sell anything you', and I said, 'well it took me a long time to find them - someone else could need just those, and it saves them going in the bin, and I might make a few pence to offset the original cost'. In my mind everyone wins.
Put them on ebay. Went for £1.99. Now who's laughing?! All for the cost of a second class stamp and my fees. I can stretch £1.50 a long way on ebay, who knows what I will turn that money into (I'm thinking a new blusher!).Debt at highest Nov '06 £17,822.98
Debt at LBM Nov '07 £14,231.63
DEBT FREE as of 01/01/09 now I have savings!!0 -
Thanks guys. Lol at the sticker story DFW, go girl! I already told OH last night it's £60 or nowt so I'll stick to that - I don't need the money now and I could sell it on Ebay if I had to (which is where I bought it) but it's v heavy and quite specialised. Oh well, I'd rather keep it and use it when I'm well again than be done over by a 'friend'. Stubborn, moi? :rotfl:
I've just rescued a fair bit of broccoli from the invading slugs (lots of rain and rusting stainless steel wire - what's that all about?- means I'm up against it) and it's now freezing on trays in my empty freezer :T I forgot to say, I got some aluminium greenhouse staging from Freecycle on Sunday :j saving myself a packet, so I need to put that in if the weather holds. Will go and check the rest of my 'crops' too. I realise writing this I'm far busier than I should be but it beats sitting listening to the work

HI all,
I am yet again trying to work but can't concentrate. I will give myself 15 min break and then I will log off from Outlook and get focusing.
I took all my leftover food last night outside into the piggies hutch that is in the piggy run as I thought that it was cooler there, and no wildlife (like neighbourhood cats) can get there. It is still all there as it is not exactly a warm day here.
This morning first problem was that the milk had gone off. Yes, I should have made it into pancakes last night but didn't think about it. Now however thanks to powdered milk that I got for breadmaking I managed to get myself a cup of tea. Might just as well go and have another one.
The service man is going to call in the morning to arrange an appointment. I hope he can come before lunch time as I have yet another mystery shop lined up for tomorrow afternoon. And also gives me a chance to meet up a friend I met through freecycle.
Bails - I hope you are inside as it is just started to rain buckets. Weather is really odd, it is sunny and then this quick blast of heavy rain.
I did reply to one of the adds but I don't think I did it correctly as I hung up after my message and then only remembered that I should've pressed one. Do you think it was ok or should I try again?
Off to get that tea now and then at [STRIKE]half twelve[/STRIKE] quarter to one I am so going to get accounting..."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

back from long weekend at parents. More exhausted than when I went so not a great sucess on the much needed 'rest' front, though parents lovely. Glad to be home and getting on with frugalling and my own routine.
Just found multi sprouting potatoes in potato bag. Is is too late to plant them?
Marru, I went to one of my best friends wedding in April and she and DH met through internet dating, so it can be great, (though i was always too scaredycat to try:o ).
Lyndasharp -sorry you've had a rotten weekend - the above mentioned friend was going through a similar time when I first met her 6 yrs ago, and had walked away from a relationship where he wasn't that into her and she felt she deserved to be really special to someone. Hard times, but she met this lovely man who adores her a few yrs later.
Sophiesmum - I think it's you who's the kitchen gadget fan...I popped into Lakeland over the weekend, drool drool. Had a good looksee at the remoska's. Think I'd 'need' a 'grand' size for bulk cooking. Still dithering though. Wish I could borrow one for a few days to try out.
Bails - loft conversion sounds very exciting:j .
Good luck with the fixyup looksee Nyk - would this be to rent or buy?I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
Nice to see ya BB! Sorry to hear you're exhausted. Not too late on the potato front, my dad says to just leave one sprout and plant it with the sprout up. As soon as the green shoots through, cover it with more soil and keep doing this until the pot is full. Wait til the shoot dies off and then empty pot for free potatoes :j
Ooh yes, how was the fixy up Nyk?The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

:hello: everyone! Have been out for lunch and the cinema today with an old friend, had a lovely time and we both caught up on a lot of things. She's not changed since we left school 3 years ago, and it was lovely to talk about things we went through, and to thank her for everything really. We saw Angus, thongs and perfect snogging which was very funny
total teenage film, and as i'm an old 21 (;)) it was funny to watch! so spent a bit today, but totally worth it.
also ordered some things onlineBe who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Hi BB
Kitchen gadgets?? Yep that would be me:oSeriously thinking about the remoska.Struggling to justify it though as the main reason most people buy one is for the electricity savings, and I don't pay for electricity:o . My friend is off to windermere on Saturday to visit the lakeland shop, and I am so tempted to ask her to get me one while she is there, would hit the budget £100+ though:eek: I would go for the grand too, as I always do big batches when cooking then freeze some.
Struggling to post tonight as my "a" key has broken off the laptop and it is really throwing my typing out, must check warranty but I think it has just expired:mad: - typical.0
