You are all so focused on the fact that I said it was mine rather than my parents?

Eh.....no. I focused on the fact you were asking on a chat forum for advice.

This makes no difference at all.

As has been pointed out to you several times, It most certainly does.

You are so quick to judge and it just screams jealousy.

No, it screams 'passing on common sense'.

I would ask all those who have nothing good to say to buzz off but being abusive is obviously the only kick you get.

Oh my...who's being judgemental now? If you took a step back you would realise that the majority of advice you were given all amounted to the same thing. This is not the place to get the kind of assistance you require...you need to seek professional help.

Knock yourselves out! Remember though - the person with the money always has the last laugh!!:rotfl:

Ah, now that's not a saying I'm familiar with...have you just made that one up? :rotfl:

    Goodluck with your debt management!;)

Thank you. :D (Is a mortgage debt management btw? )

I really dont want to keep this going, but for whatever reason, you seemed determined to justify your position and that's your prerogative, but please dont forget this IS still a chat forum and the world and his brother can comment in any fashion they wish to.

That is the basic premise of a forum, it's unrealistic to expect anything else.

Oh for God's sake Bubbles / Bumbles whatever your name is..

Not everyone in this world lives their life revolving around money! Stop accusing people of being jealous!

Sometimes, honesty, personality, family and a sense of humour go a lot further than money can.

The thing that annoys me is you put in your OP.

'I am in the enviable position'... No! You're not! Your mummy and daddy are... who's the jealous one now love?

Sorry to be rude, but your posts have been rude, and you have totally ignored the well meaning people who have pointed out things to you as to why you need to be clearer in your OP as to whos money it is.

Bumbles2 I think you are genuine, if I was you (and form bitter experience re losses re tech boom/2000 stock crash) tell them to avoid all financial advisers/banks etc and ask yourself who pays for all those lovely buildings in the city of London and the city boys bonuses?
Split the lot into £50k (£100k joint) savings accounts, you can probably get 10 buildings societies/banks paying over 7% . They could also look at premium bonds & index linked nsi savings

if I was you (and form bitter experience re losses re tech boom/2000 stock crash)
Funny thing is not one of my clients lost money because of that. However, none of them were stupid enough to invest 100% into tech stocks and they just went through the paper losses and ended up in paper gains.

If you lost money through the tech stock crash then you were badly invested or you didnt follow advice. And to be honest, you almost certainly didnt get advice as that sort of investing would be hard to justify and would end up in an upheld complaint.

Had you got investment advice you wouldnt have been in that position so it seems daft to tell the Op to avoid getting advice.
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.

I wonder what your parents would make of this thread if they were to read it? How about you print it all off and show it to them and say, mum / dad have a read through this. I wonder if they too would laugh at all of the people who aren't as fortunate as themselves.

All I would say is that there are a lot of people on this site that have real money worries which lead to them losing their homes. Some of it is brought about by their silling spending habits, but some are due to external circumstances that are beyond their control. I think we should try to be sensitive to that fact.

I hope your parents get the professional advice they need. Its nice to read about people building successful businesses and doing well for themselves. The UK needs more innovation and entrepreneurialism such as that employed by your parents.

Good luck in your quest for investment wisdom.

Interesting if your parents had sought independent financial advice three months ago odds are that they would have invested the bulk of their money in equity based funds and probably be looking at losses of the order of ten percent. With very high oil prices and plunging house prices the effects in terms of inflation, unemployment and economic stagnation may well become increasingly dire. Whose to say the investment climate will not be increasingly bleak for some time to come? My impression is that IFAs, stock brokers and banks are imbued with a constant imperative to maximise cash flow. In other words they will want to invest the maximum as quickly as possible with little regard as to timing. Remember although it is hard to fully match inflation in savings accounts if one draws an income from it and investments have the potential to greatly increase they also have the potential to lose money. Having said that I think it is not a bad move at the moment to seek advice from an IFA on investing a proportion (say 15%) of the 2 million and also one who is knowledgeable on tax matters to advise on cash deposits. To me the better solution would be for your parents to a large degree manage their own money but if they have no experience or inclination this is not an option even though they must be astute to have managed their business so well.

bumbles with a mere 2 mill is a peasant. I've got 50 million to invest. help please!
I'm starting a Private Bank up and if you invest it with me I'll give you 20%pa on that amount.Unfortunately, my request to become FSCS registered was rejected last week as I currently only have a few bob lying around, but I'm sure if I can demonstrate that I have £50m inbound the FSA will see me in better light and let me register afterwards.

Don't worry though, your money will be very safe - I promise

money saving does not and should not, apply just to people in debt. There are many people on here who are not in debt but keep their mouths closed because the over-riding culture on the site seems to be about getting out of debt and staying out of debt. It is almost as though people are keeping their heads down, if they have money, because the jealous ones come out of the woodwork

I admire the OP for wanting to get knowledgable. Knowledge is strength and at the very least will help her not to be `ripped off` by the scammers and fraudsters
