As the old saying goes - look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves...:cool:0 -
Bumbles2. there's still time to come clean!
If you really want some opinions about what your parents should do, try and be a bit more open. People on this forum really do want to help, but they can only do this on full information.
Don't go into your shell; it really doesn't help at all.
Also, remember, nobody knows who you are, so no fear!
Get it off your chest, girl, you'll feel all the better for it!

And the hole just keeps getting deeper and deeper, buy her a new spade someone!0

2 million! Are you kidding me?
Why on Earth would you be on here if you had 2 million pounds. Just think about that for 1 second. Two million pounds!!
Still a funny thread though!
The site without doubt has a good few members with more than £2m.
What do you imagine affluent people do? Burn fivers to keep warm?0 -

Watch this space .....
With inflation racing ahead and rising gas and oil prices it may well be one of Martin's email tips come the winter!
Remember where you heard it first!
What, you mean like this? http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/ca/Inflation-1923.jpg
Have to say, I'm quite glad we don't live in 1920s Germany and prices aren't doubling every 48 hours!“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -
Blimey! Why on earth should someone with £2000, £200,000, or £2,000,000 not be able to ask a question on MSE? Even if its hypothetical its useful to others if someone in the know gave a response.
All this talk of "ask a professional".... Well why not "ask a professional" yourself on your miserly £10,000 debt? Someone like Brighthouse or Provident perhaps? Or the local benefits book holding loan shark?
There are more sharks out there looking for high equity marks (like OAPs) to park their cash with them on derisory rates, or even theft.
That Barclays "Wealth" sounds like one of them.
BTW. You might want to ask your MSE God himself, Martin Lewis, how much he earns and where he sticks it? Is he keeping this information all to himself? No? I bloody hope he isn't!!!0 -

They soon will be! With this housing crash and the fact we no longer have anything to sell to the rest of the world, we are in for the mother of all recessions!
Official inflation is recorded at 4% or so... Utter lies... I am converting all my useless pounds sterling into gold, energy stocks, and pharmaceuticals.... I suggest the OP does the same with the 2 million0 -
And to the OP:
If your parents are not living in the UK and deal in Euros then the £2,000,000 is now worth over 20% less than it was this time last year. They are far better off shifting into Euros.. Especially as the ECB will be raising rates soon.
The pound is tanking along with the dollar. The Euro is a stronger currency.
It remains to be seen if the BOE drop rates like the FED did and totally debase the currency.
Its time to raise the rates! +0.5% per month from now on!!0
