I think I already know the answer to this but have I made the right decision. I don't go out much as money is tight with not working properly due to my hand. I've been invited out by two people tomorrow night and said no. The thing is, there's a big 40th party on Saturday. I've put my share into the present and it's going to be a really good night BUT (bet you knew that was coming) - i'll have to share a taxi each way, and on the way home it'll be early hours of the morning, and the place it's at is a swanky wine bar where drinks cost a fortune. I'd have been happy to drive but DH is going camping with the children (i've got other commitments so can't go) so he'll have the car. Also, I've not been out for a posh do for so long i've got nothing suitable to wear....well, i'd need a new top. I reckon it'll cost £60 in total. Am I being mean pulling out? It won't land the others in it as they go out all the time so aren't bothered about the cost. What do you reckon? xx

Edited to add: we're on a budget of £100 a month to include absolutely everything!! food, petrol, children's school trips, pet food, anything to do with the car, you name it...it comes out of the £100!!

Edited to add again! it's a budget of £100 a week not a month! that would be a miracle (thanks Serena!) xx

:hello:Evening ladies! A teensy bit more flying done today, as I did manage to wash the main bedroom bedlinen. Mind you, if I don't get off the pc and take it out of the tumbler, we won't have a duvet cover on the quilt...

Worked today - arrived to the cover supervisor's obvious surprise, as he told me the deputy head had cancelled - whereas I said the agency had told me it was my last day today. I did offer to go home again, but as the agency will charge the school anyway, I got to stay. Bit of an up and down day, as the weather was horrible, hot, humid and heavy, then torrential rain at lunch time. We were all scratchy and ratty. So, I may now be on holiday until September, unless something comes up in the next two weeks. No excuses for slacking then!

Hi AnW's mum - I'm feeling a little less guilty about doing so little now you've confessed! Mudbath seems to be doing quite a lot though...

tia - hugs - it will seem funny, but not just yet...

    michelle - what gorgeous boys!

pigpen - I was betting on you having a contract out on certain health professionals.

I've read the thread too fast and haven't taken notes on what I wanted to say to whom, so please choose what you fancy from:beer:,:grouphug:, :coffee:!

mudbath - no, I wouldn't pay out for a posh do when I was on a tight budget. My family comes first. If it were someone that close, then they'd know I was pushed for funds and wouldn't expect me to pay out so much.

How on earth do you manage on £100 a month for food, and everything else??I never get away with under a £100 for the weekly shop, before I even start on anything else. Well done you!

also a bit mad as messaged all my ebay sellers to say stuff would be on its way asap but that i'd not managed to get to post office - bearing in mind it sold late sunday night and i emailed last night. One woman emailed back a v snotty email saying I should've sent it by now and couldn't i take it to work or something....obviously if i could then i would've done. grrrr. I have a meeting out of the office tomorrow so i'll try and go early and post it before...

    sorry, rant over!

DH has been studying but when he finishes in a bit we're gonna watch a dvd and then i think i'll be ready to flop in bed!!

Lol Serena...slight error in typing....that's a budget of £100 a week! The cat and dog foot probably costs more than £100 a month, not quite but nearly! I'll go back and amend that!!! xx

Mudbath - I wouldn't pay out for the posh do either, and I would understand if a friend pulled out of a do I arranged for the same reasons. However, there's always Ebay and Charity shops for "posh" tops and tap water is free everywhere :)

Good luck with the £100 pcm budget. We work on one that's pretty close to that, but we don't include travel. Neither OH or I drive so what we save on Road Tax and Insurance goes on bus fare instead. This months big shop, for everything, came to £112. We expect to spend about £20 to £30 max on fresh milk, bread and veg.

Edit: Cross post! :D £100 a week is a lot more reasonable if you have fuel costs :)

I've confused everyone now - it's £100 a week which sounds loads but....after paying for food, petrol, cat/dog food, trips for children etc there's never anything left! I wish I could get it down to £100 a month!
