I haven't progressed beyond the basic recipe yet as we have the book on order from Amazon and it is still OOS.
I'd been put off a little recently by lack of a suitably sized container (even doing half a batch was pushing my biggest bowl to its limit). Anyway last week I bought a big Tupperware-type (not Tupperware but similar) from Dunelm for my homebrew mash to ferment in when I make wine. This bucket is about 9 or 10 inches square and is maybe 12 or 13 inches high, and it has a lid. So it struck me last night that this would be a perfect container for the artisan bread so I have a full batch rising for the first time. The container was only £2.49, so a good price if anyone else is looking for a nice big dough bucket.0 -

I just bought a small round cheap washing up bowl and a shower cap suggested by someone on here, genius! Works great too0 -

mumoftwo that looks fab well done :T I've given up, I just couldn't get decent results with this method at all so I've gone back to doing it the traditional way for now,as it's very frustrating to keep failing when I know I can bake bread normally.I may have a go at it again at somepoint in the future.I just can't afford to keep producing disasters atm0

Got back from holiday last week and decided to have a go at this method. I first made a half-batch and was very disappointed with the results. A couple of days ago I made the full batch (2lbs flour/750ml water) and the loaf I baked yesterday seemed much better - though perhaps slightly undercooked (I cooked it for 30 minutes at 230 deg., alongwith something else in the oven at the same time). Can anyone please tell me how many loaves they get from 2lbs of flour, using this method?0

I made a batch of this dough last week, it rose beautifully the day I made it, but I didn't use it that day. I put it in the fridge and overnight it sank back doen to how it was before it rose.
I put a batch into a tin and left it to rise for a couple of hours in a warm place. It hardly rose.
Let's just say the resulting product would be great to use as a doorstop lol.

Thanks welshgranny, I have ordered the book from bookdepository as well. Have been looking in on the thread for days and decided it was time to try it.0 -
After trying on many occasions to bake good bread at home I was really excited to see this quick and easy method. Had a go on Saturday and have just finished the second loaf of what my partner describes as the best homemade bread he's ever had!! Praise indeed from him!
Would like to say a big thank you for bringing this to my attention. My parents are in America next week so have requested they pick up a copy of the book for me - can't wait..Halifax credit card £5700 D

I've been making the basic recipe, using white flour, for the past few weeks, but I'm starting to miss the extra fibre I was getting from wholemeal bread
Does anyone know if it works well using wholemeal flour, or a mixture of wholemeal and white?
