Im so sad, i couldn't get to sleep at all last night, was thinking about making olive and tomato bread:p And when i did get to sleep i was dreaming about a slice smothered in hummus.

Needless to say the dough is rising right now

Ha ha ha - i'm glad i'm not the only one who couldnt sleep for dreaming of making dough !!!

I first read this post on tuesday evening i think it was and had a very sleepless night thinking about this - at midnight i was tempted to get up and get the dough started - but i resisited.

Anyway first thing wednesday morning i got my dough started and within a couple of hours my first 'trial' loaf was in the oven baking. It worked really well and tasted soooo good with golden syrup on. Then i made a medium sized loaf that again came out lovely. Quite a firm texture but i thought it tested better than the bread that comes from my bread maker.

The following night we had calzones that worked very well. Rolled a lump of dough, piled cooked onion, mushrooms and tomatoes inside with tomato puree, tuna, sweetcorn and cheese. Folded the dough over sealed and baked for about 25 minutes.

The last lot of dough im using up now and have made 2 rolls to go with HM beefburgers for dinner and also 2 little cinamon buns (mixed melted butter, brown sugar and cinamon, spread over the dough and then rolled up). The smell from the cinamon buns is heavenly.

Ive run out of dough now, but another idea i had was to make up a thick custard, spread over dough and sprinkle with chocolate chips, roll up and slice and make a sort of danish pastry type thing.

Thank yo so much GreenManGo this is a fantastic thread :j

    Hurray for the bloomer larmy16.

Saw cheese rolls in Asda this morning and thought: I am going to try that, so just shaped some rolls from the dough and sprinkled mature grated cheddar on top, they smell divine..

what flour did you use hon?

Tesco's bread flour in a pink bag - it was very cheap when I bought it before the price hikes. Not sure what it costs now?

It's about 48p a bag now. Couple of weeks back it was closer to £1 a bag. Soda crystals this week are 29p when a few weeks back they were double that. Other stuff is jumping up 30p a time. Mad.

I am not exactly a natural baker, but want to give this a go, but just a quick question, can you use fast acting yeast? Is that the same as granulated Yeast?

CB it was 48p tonight - had a look. I bought some of the normal yeast to have a go with as opposed to the special breadmaker one. Mine has been in the fridge for must be about a year, so I may get even lighter results. Also bought some fine sea salt from Aldi. My first ever visit to an Aldi - very exciting to get that face cream that comes highly recommended. Anyway back to bread. Going to make some of the cheese topped rolls tomorrow!

Used the second half of my half batch to make two baguettes, these were good too.

Started second batch last night and decided to make some garlic dough balls to go with our pizza as soon as the dough was ready. DS went to get another one and said that as two had stuck together they technically only counted as one!

Rolls fresh from the oven for breakfast this morning which soon disappeared. The only thing is that taking this portion out seems to have destroyed some of the structure of what is left in the container. Will have to see how it goes.

    Zzzzz
