i made the butter on monday night using room temp double cream (oh stumbled across it in mr t at 10p and couldn`t leave it there all on its lonesome
) and shaking it in a jar till the buttermilk came out then mixing in a bit of salt and shaping it into a pat of butter.
Angchris: I'm a few days behind, so if you've already been asked these questions, please ignore this!
I'm impressed that you made butter! Can you tell me a bit more about how you made it? How long did you have to shake the cream for? How much cream did you start with and how much butter did it make? Do you have to shake the jar in a certain way? What can you do with the 'bi-product'?
Sorry to grill you but any tips gratefully received!

very discreet, no embarrassment, and apart from feeling a bit light headed afterwards, i feel great!! apparently i won't start to feel the results for about 12 hours, when things have settled down, but i can really recommend it!!
I'm seriously thinking of going for this too. How much does it cost? Do they recommend further sessions, and if so, how often? I must find out if anybody over here does it.0 -
Morning all, still managing to spend nothing! My husband came home last night complaining that he thinks we will have no money at the end of the month, I tried to tell him that i was going to make sure we will not spend our grocery budget this month and he was impressed with the hm pizza i made last night.
I really do love that Artisan bread recipe, i still have half of it in the fridge, and a small loaf in the kitchen!
All good, pizza was left over roast chicken and bits from the cupboard. I think we may be able to get away with only buying fruit and veg (little our garden is doing us proud) and a bottle of olive oil from aldi.
So should be a cheap month:)
Hope the weather is ok with you, have a good dayLeopardlady

Morning!
Just popping on to log a NSD for me today. I'm going to use a bit of broccoli up from the fridge and have 2 veggie sausages found loitering in the freezer and some Aunt Bessie's roasties and peas and gravy for tea to use up the last of the fresh veg before the weekend - the dog loves these teas too as he gets the leftovers anything with gravy (even the veggie version) and he's happy - and mucky!
Have brought lunch to work with me - half price Food Doctor bagel, Laughing Cow triangles and some fruit and have my cheapo Diet cokes to keep me going.
Am on my own for most of the weekend - OH on a stag do (hmmmm!) - so will try to use up a lot of whats in the freezer before we go on holidays next Saturday :T
I'm going to try to just buy fruit, veg and dog food this weekend and make do with what we have for the next week - I have plenty of stuff that I can make with what I have but sometimes just don't fancy it IYKWIM?:o
Anyway, should go and do some work I suppose?
Have a good day!0 -
Meal plan - what meal plan?
Planned to do roast on Sunday, but Saturday we had a takeaway due to unforeseen circumstances. Sunday we had Saturday's tea, and instead of the roast planned to do the china chilo because finally fresh peas in shops :j:j:j
But I had forgot the lettuce so Monday we had a scratch meal (fish fingers, baked beans, tinned potatoes) and I was feeling a bit fed up with the start of this week's headache. Tuesday the lettuce came with the Sainsbury order so I managed, despite headache, to get china chilo finished, but OH couldn't eat much much due to bad stomach, so instead of freezing a portion he threw it
Then yesterday's spag bol just didn't happen because I could barely move so Friday's fish & chips day was moved to Wednesday, and tonight we are having spag bol if the mushrooms are still fit or some variant thereof if they are not.
Sigh.
I'm looking at all the yummy recipes and thinking how great they sound, but I am not, repeat NOT, going out and buying ingredients until next month - I have meal plans and stuff to use up and I will do it!
And I still have a headache!Always another chapter0 -
