Hey all, well I am off to Paris tomorrow with my lovely Mum (Sian, if I buy the train tickets and pay for the hotel can you contribute to food...
bargain). We have loads of things we want to do and lots should be free/cheap. I wanted to make some snacks to take to stave off the hunger so made some twink's hobnobs and adapted the bran flake cake recipe to make some little muffins, added chopped fig and choc chips instead of sultanas, pretty tasty if a little dense but ideal for breakfast muffins or lovely warm with a cuppa. I like adapting things.
Have a great week!God is good, all the time

angelnikki i agree copying it over is a very good idea. It's sooooo easy to find them. Thanks for looking after us.
Hi toottifrootti till I started this challange I didn't really cook. I had no confidence but since reading how easy the recieps are my DH has problems some days getting me out of the kitchen. People on here are very friendly and very helpfull.GC July £250/0 -
ex OH who still lives here had a good go at blowing the budget, i think he's fed up with me not buying snacks so blew £15 on mostly carp
. Been to a baby naming day today took some cheese biscuits ( normal and blue cheese) which all disappeared but no where near as fast as the twinks hobnobs!!! Gone in a flash they were, starting to become famous for them
.
Very proud of myself this weekend, finally bit the bullet and did an inventory of the freezers, it runs to 3 1/2 pages of A4, double line spaced  . I dont know why I still shop, we must own enough food for over 3 months. List is now stuck to the fridge, so no excuses for not using stuff up.Eat food, not edible food-like items. Mostly plants.0 -
Sian_the_Green wrote: »I wouldn't be hard on yourself Ches, sounds like you have done the best you can and isn't extortionate amounts for EVERYTHING tbh. With the scrapbooking I really like looking at layouts that are done using normal things, spare buttons you get with shirts, corrugated card from parcels, bits of packaging with slogans that work as titles, embellishments made with split pins and cut out flowers... Have you heard of Elsie Flannigan? Her book is awesome for stuff like that. Maybe you could set yourself a challenge for scrapbooking like the storecupboard challenge "I must make a layout using only ingrdients I already have..". Maybe we should do a craft exchange, I have tonnes of stuff I don't use and I would be more than happy to send a load off to someone who will use it
(Hope I don't sound like I'm telling you stuff you already know...)
Thanks for your reply. TBH I could stop spending on scrapping stuff right now and still be able to create LO's between now and Christmas with stash I already have. But you know what its like when the new papers etc are launched. I am retired so scrapping fills up a lot of my days which keeps me out of clothes shops so thats a bonus. Thanks for your ideas I will have a go and may be stretch the boundaries a bit.Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot. :think:0 -
Evening everyone. Been a bit of a funny day (as in peculiar, not ha ha) - OH still working his socks off and hardly spoken to me. DD1 taken home and still feeling very down so I am worried about her too. Then I popped into Argos on the way back to buy a slow cooker which my MIL wanted. When I got it to her and we unpacked it we found it was damaged so I am going to have to take it back tomorrow! It was the last one in the store too! However, I did a search on the internet and found that John Lewis have the same one £2 cheaper and free delivery if you don't mind waiting 5 days.
We had a piece of brisket pot roasted in the slow cooker with potatoes, carrots, celery and parsnip for supper. It was a bit disappointing to tell the truth - although it wasn't tough there wasn't much flavour. Not sure what I did wrong as I sealed the meat and veg in the frying pan first, and added veg stock seasoning and a bayleaf to the slow cooker. I have done this before and it tasted fine, but I have never used brisket before - is this what made the difference do you think?
AngelNikki i think it would be great if the recipe list could be carried over to next month - it is really useful. Thanks.
Well, I am really tired so I think I will log off now. Hope everyone else is ok.

Does everyone agree with this or should we start a new recipe list each month?
Or you can just click on the post no which is at the top right of the post. That will open it in its own window. Then click on favourites in your browser and add to favourites.
