Hi all. I went to Asda yesterday afternoon. I actually took a list (often forget or can't be bothered to write one,) and I worked out roughly what I was spending as I went round the shop (not like me, I must be ill!!!) anyway. I only took £35 with me so I would not be able to overspend...I only spent just over £31 and I should not need to go again for at least another week-apart from bread and yoghurts/fruit etc. So I am a very happy bunny and actually on course for beating the budget this month!!!!
Well done everyone so far and continued good luck for rest of challenge!!!

also some sort of veg i dont recognise, white shaped likes a ball????? with leaves out of the top like a carrot.

Hi Karen :) from your description I'd say either florence fennel http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florence_fennel (scroll down the page a little to see what the 'bulbs' of florence fennel look like) or kohl rabi http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kohl_Rabi, if either is what you have I'll post some recipe ideas, if not I'll see if my brain can come up with another veggie that looks like your description.

PS don't confuse florence fennel with the herb fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) one is grow for its tops and seeds, florence fennel (Foeniculum vulgare azoricum) is grow for use as a veggie :)

JUst on way out but will pop back later DH is off today and we're having off out for a picnic and then to the cinema (his treat). Hope everyone is having a good day, will catch up with rest of you later, hugs to everyone :)

  • It's pouring with rain today in Spain...The rain in Spain......

So we went to the Supermarkets and spent 21 euros on bread, baking stuff,f & v,dairy stuff and a baguette.

Still on menu plan so having leftovers for tea and I will need to make a passata for the Ravioli tomorrow.

Making bread rolls with dd9 and some Twinks as ds4 and dd8 play footie in the rain!!!!!

Have a list of jobs as long as my arm but I've got all day/week/month to do them in.

Tomboy dd8 proclaimed that she wanted to have her ears perced this morning so we hotfooted it to the beauticians ( this is the dd who hid with her fingers in her ears under the beauty couch while dd9 had hers done.)So for 6 euros she is now pierced with no tears - well done Azra..

Hullo all...have been very good this weekend. Didn't go out at all so Sat and Sun were both NSDs. I did pop into Mr. S on Friday after work in search of whoopsied bread but they haven't had any decent loaves since I started stopping by to buy them! Are there a bunch of MSE's in Bexleyheath snapping them up then? :) Anyway, spent 77p there on whoopsied lettuce and dessicated coconut - not as frugal as it sounds since the lettuce is wilting in the fridge - we only ate quarter of the bag.

Made a veggie shepherd's pie, lemon muffins and a gorgeous date and bran cake over the weekend. Sadly, OHs blood sugar is up again so I need to stop doing the cakes and muffins - they are low sugar but obviously not low enough.

The pie will do me for 3 lunches this week and I have 2 pieces of quiche from last week left so that's lunches taken care of. There are other bits and bobs of meals in the freezer which I hope will cover the dinners. I had thought OH would cook today and tomorrow (his days off) but he's got the flu and is busy being miserable.

On the bright side, we got a perfect cherry tomato and a big bowlful of raspberries and blackberries out of our garden!

Hope all of you are having a nice day. Off to update my signature.

    Hi,

It was me asking. Thank you. Sadly, we don't have a poundland near us but have been looking in places such as Wilkinson, Poundstretcher and the normal supermarkets.

Had a NSD yesterday but used a lot of petrol as we visited my grandparents and they live in London. My grandma hasn't seen my little one for 6 weeks and she was getting upset that she was missing out on her growing up. My grandad also has a condition like dementia and it's taking it's toll on her. Her great-granddaughter is the light of her life at the moment and it's just a shame that we truly cannot afford to visit more often.

Although still on track for the challenge money is non existent this month. Not sure how we're going to pay for anything really.

    Hi All,

I'm a bit late signing up this month! :rotfl:I have kept my receipts so far and spent £117. out of £220. So I have two weeks to go and £100 to spend. I think it should be easy enough as I have a freezer full of stuff. :T
