It's odd, isn't it? how you go over budget but can't see the reason why. I wonder if it's because the prices go up and you don't notice, just chuck the same things in the trolley. I'm having a clear down of the cupboards at the moment, so having some unusual combinations...

Hi Piq, how are you. I still cast me beady eye over your diary, the things you are doing to that poor hamster!

Been and collected my mum and now just catching up with every bodies diaries. Also cleared the massive ironing pile, at least the children will have school clothes. Undecided about sending DD1 as she still isn't right but slightly better IYKWIM.

Thinking about buying a slow cooker, all the threads I have read about them all seem favourable and I have been looking at recipes which are floating my boat. Still trying to decide which make and model.

Very well thank you, bit tired, the old boy is full of energy and someone (me) has to run it out of him....

I use my slow cooker at the weekend for some batch cooking, wouldn't be without it. I use it for chilli, stews and soups. It keeps the freezer filled up quite nicely!

  • I love mine too! I make sausage casseroles and chicken ones as well.
I get a £1 bag of veg (carrots, onions etc) and stick it all in with a veg cube.

A big bowl lasts me for 3 -4 meals xx

Another vote for the slow cooker - I don't use mine so much in the summer, but certainly do in the winter - casseroles, curries, slow cooking joints of meat. It is great because you can buy the cheapest cuts, yet they taste so tender with very little effort!

Think I am going slightly mad and definitely in need of some equine therapy. Roll on next week.

I have my mum staying at the moment and I am finding it quite draining. She is a heavy smoker so I feel as if the whole house smells, even though she smokes outside.

On the debt front, not much moving and I have made a !!!! up. Made a payment to the HSBC cc forgetting that the card number had changed. I didn't realise the payment had bounced back. Only found out when I got the new statement saying I hadn't made a payment and been charged a fee!

Going to have a bash at making seville orange marmalade tomorrow. I still feel as though I'm wading through treacle as far as this debt busting goes.

OHs car finally past its MOT needed 2 new tyres which his business paid for and £90 on other bits which we are paying for.

We had the same happen to HSBC a while back, but a letter to them with a copy of a payment instruction to the "old" number showed that we had not intended not to pay them, and they were ok about it.

Even after that, I would sometimes send an overpayment to the "old" number but they would intercept it and send it to the right account - I obviously did it on a more regular basis than I had thought!

Give them a call, or drop them a line, and you may well find it gets sorted without charge.
