Took the chaps to town and the boys got their hair cut. Managed to persuade DS1 to do his and I think I owe thanks to his hangover, that he agreed. Anything to shut me up. Booked DD1 in to have hers cut. It's so long its getting unmanageable, she's thinking about having some layers put in and getting rid of some of the thickness. Then had a brainwave and changed har appointment so it didn't mess up one of the days I'm off. Its now getting done next week. Called in at Wilkos and took advantage of their shampoo offer and got a few other bits and bobs. Bought some compost in Lidls and can't say I'm overly impressed with it. I think its got more twigs than soil!

Had bacon buts for lunch with many mutterings in the ranks about the lack of tomato sauce. Got an Asda order booked for Monday, so wasn't getting something I'd already ordered. Spent the afternoon potting up the wellies. If I can remeber how to do it I'll put a picci up.

Just about to get ready to take the girls riding and drop DS2 off for the first part of the awards and will meet him and OH later. Planning on getting some chips and either eating them by the river, or on the green in front of the pub with a very nice cold pint!

Didn't manage the pint, or eating chips by the river as by the time we got out the awards ceremony it had gone quite chilly. Came home with chips and watched eurovision.

Another stunner of a day and struggling to find things to wash, which is no mean achievement with my brood! It seems such a shame not to make use of the weather.

chips by the river sounds lovely but so does chips at home. Can't remember the last time I had chip shop chips, yummy. object-emoticon-0069.gif

I could still have my washing out now, if I had a line, (OH landscaped the garden and didn't leave anywhere to put a line and doesn't want one out there anyway. So I dry on racks in the laundry room), as it is still stiflingly hot. Windows open, fan blowing, light weight sheet instead of blanket and attire, well I won't scare you with the images.

Had a pretty good day today, mostly good. My sister has offered to get the chaps tickets to go to the theatre so they have opted to see A Woman in Black, if that's unavailable Ghost. I've seen the theatre performance of a Woman in Black and also seen the film with Daniel Radcliff, both I thought were very good.

    The good bits:
DD1 has been accepted out of 60 people to go to Thailand for 4 weeks next year to do some sort of build project. She has to raise £3145!

    Now for the bad bits:
    DD1 has to raise £3145!!!!
It's all being done through the World Challenge and they have to organise it all themselves (they do have leaders with them) and they can get points towards their university as well.

We have been saving up for DD2s skiing trip and we need £115 plus spends by the end of October, so thats coming along nicely.

Anybody with any fund raising ideas please let me know.

    Hi Lucielle and everyone,
Huge congratulations to DD1 - that will be an amazing experience. I have no experience of raising that level of funds whatsoever but:- Some Excellent ideas there from taxi :T I would say come up with as many different money making ideas as possible to reach the target and then put a conservative estimate next to each idea as to how much you expect it will raise - sorry you've probably done all this already :o But just to break it down into manageable goals :)
So you have your direct sponsorship - the standard form you get with most things for charity i think where x person says they'll sponsor £x - could this be done as a sponsored run maybe ?
Carboot - with all the signs up saying it is for charity.
Tombola ? See if any local businesses will donate goods to be raffled off / tombola - i guess the items donated will depend on whether its £1 a ticket or 20p a ticket etc. and get a stall at the school summer fare - again clearly signed as to what the funds are for. Involve the press - i guess businesses are happy to donate and get their name in the paper for a charity event

The charity carwash is a fab idea too :D
Contact local football clubs, cricket clubs etc. - i think they are open to giving a signed football / bat etc. This could be auctioned off at an evening event (i know i'm assuming there are local places that do sportsmans dinners or fundraising for their own club and would be happy to let this happen too).
What about local pubs / clubs that you or the children are involved in ? Would they hold a fundraising night ?
    Smaller things:-
No idea what its like where anyone works but is it possible to arrange a £1 dress down day - depending on how many people work there this could raise a sizeable sum.
One of those card things where everyone pays £1 for a square - the ones i've seen are again football related - the funds are then split that the the winner gets say £15 and the charity £15 as well - something like that anyways.
Are there any skills anyone could donate ? i.e i've seen hairdressers saying all funds from 1 day will go to x charity etc. Obviously doesn't have to be hairdressing just what saleable skills people have.

Sorry i've probably wittered on with stuff you already know :o Good luck and let us know how she gets on with it all :)

Wow there are some wonderful suggestions there for raising money! I can only think of one to add. At my local supermarket you sometimes get the kids packing the shopping [badly] for donations to charity.
