Mortgage porting or a brand new mortgage?

House should sell for £200k. The house we want to buy would be £320k. Our house is currently up for sale and hasn’t sold yet and we haven’t seen one we…

Mortgage Charter - Interest Only - did it affect a new mortgage offer?
I know mortgage lenders are insisting that if you use the Mortgage Charter, nothing negative is shown on your credit report - I wondered, if in practice, this is true also? Our current mortgage deal expires in about 12 months, I'm concerned that my existing lender will be reluctant to offer me a mortgage deal, or if any…

Paying off a mortgage but leaving a nominal amount on it
Hi, not sure if I'm in the right place but here goes. I'm thinking about paying off my mortgage, but on my credit report it says that this is the longest account I have and I should keep it open. So are you able to pay off a mortgage and leave say £1 on it just to keep the account open or will the bank just laugh at me?…

Nationwide
I started a post about ERC on Nationwide mortgages a few weeks ago. We have decided to just overpay the maximum until our 5 year deal ends to avoid the ERC. I know the amount of overpayment you are allowed to pay is 10% of original borrowed amount and that it renews on anniversary of the mortgage but we have noticed the…

Relocation - some mortgage questions
We are hoping to put our house up for sale soon and begin the process of moving from south to north. I know most people suggest selling up and renting for awhile but this really isn’t an option for us as I wouldn’t want to settle my daughters in a new school only to have to move again if the new house is in a slightly…

My current mortgage deal comes to an end in February. Should I get a deal now?
Main question is, if I secure a deal now, if a cheaper rate then becomes available, is it much of an issue to then switch deals? For context, my mortgage balance will be around £163k in February and property value is around £360,000. Current rate is 1.75% and just seen pretty much all of the sub 4% rates are gone.
