Equity release - BISF property
My parents want to do equity release on their BISF property. We haven’t had any luck finding a lender who will do this. It was built in the 1950s, which I think is the main issue. Has anyone else had any luck doing this and could recommend a lender please?

Can I stop paying my mortgage for a few weeks until the house sale goes through?
Hi. I've accepted an offer on my house (after an earlier offer fell through at the last minute). I'm in the process of buying a flat - net result will be that I will be able to pay off my mortgage (around £95k). In order not to lose the flat, I need to pay a 2.5% deposit and rent it for 3 months. I asked my mortgage…

Mortgage broker messed up
I went through a broker I had used before to try to fix my mortgage before predicted rate rises and release extra capital for the building work we are undertaking. They had been bought out by a larger broker since I last dealt with them, but seemed quite proactive and helpful. I contacted them in late November, provided…

Buying two flats to turn into one house advice
Hi there! So my wife and I want to buy a house that's been converted into two flats, then turn those flats back into one house. The issue is: the mortgage. Most lenders, as we understand it, won't lend on the promise of the house being a house--they'll value it as two flats. Most people won't let you have a mortgage on two…

Why do some lenders allow brokers to offer even better rates than themselves?
My current 2 year fixed deal comes to an end in early December. Using the link from the MSE email I see that Santander is offering an even better rate through a broker than they can offer themselves to me. Why is that? You'd think the lender would be offering the very best rate.

Homebuy Wales
Hi. Looking at buying a property through the Homebuy Wales Scheme. Where you buy 70% of the property and the housing association owns 30%. Remortgaging: should I close zero balance credit cards?
Hi, we’re due to remortgage in March 2025. I’ve been working really hard to clear all my credit card debt so I’m in the strongest position possible. I’m pleased to say that I’m nearly debt free! However I’m now wondering what I should do with my credit card which will have a zero balance on it but a limit of £12k. I’m not…
