Barclays min loan size and SVR
We have two mortgages with Barclays, one of which is a Lifetime Tracker +0.19% and the other is usually a more expensive tracker for 2 years at a time. Am I right in thinking that if you're within the minimum period of a remortgage product, e.g. 2 years, and/or have less than £5,000 left on your mortgage, you would have to…

Shared ownership (or other options) if I can't afford the mortgage ...
Essentially in 3 months time my landlord is selling the home I've been living in for 10 years - but giving me the option to buy it. I doubt I will be lent 100% of the mortgage required, but have been looking at shared ownership options. However usually these arrangements are for properties that housing associations already…

Endowment Advice
I took out an endowment investment many years ago to use to repay my mortgage, long before the whole controversy over endowments. For most years the insurance company gave me a red signal that my investment payout would be on the low side. It paid out a year ago and it was on the low side but better than I thought. Today I…

2, 3, or 5 year fixed rate?
Hi, I'm re-mortgaging soon, wondering what your thoughts are on which duration to go for, 2, 3 or 5 years? The rates get cheaper the longer you fix for, but this suggests rates will fall during that time. Do I pay the premium now for a shorter term and hope rates do fall, or take the "secure" route with 5 years? Wondering…

Fix at 3.79%?
Standard and annoying what would you do/predict the future question I know... BUT... Good idea to fix for 5 years at 3.79%? My current rate is 1.79% I know at the moment 3.79 is a good rate, and anything could happen in the future. But my outstanding balance is high at £410k so fixing at the wrong time for too long could…

Do 5% deposit mortgages really exist ?
After a little inquiring it appears that lenders expect a family member to deposit 10% into a savings account to be held for a few years when only a 5% deposit is available. If i keep searching will i actually find a lender that will be satisfied with just a 5% deposit and not requiring family help?

Property Ownership
I shared a property with my ex-partner (who has recently passed away). When we split I moved out of the property but continued paying the mortgage. After I stopped paying the mortgage (as I could not afford to pay rent and the mortgage) it was agreed through a separation agreement with solicitors that I would transfer my…
