Perma prop bulls, are there any left?
Here is Hamlisch and all his sock puppets these days? Where are all those who were shouting green shoots of recovery for years and years. Are there really any genuine perma prob bulls left? Or have they all come to accept that property can't defy gravity forever? Do not underestimate the power of the dark side......

Selling prices
Something I have always wondered, in regarding house prices. People always compare to what others in same street have sold for like for like. Now lets say I wanted a very quick sale and couldn't be bothered and knocked off £20k as the asking price than the value. Sold for asking price. Another neighbour does the same. What…

Halifax September 2017 +4.0% YoY +0.8% MoM
Another month and another year goes by and the great House Price Crash (as predicted monthly by a certain website since 2003) is cancelled. Meanwhile it's time to pay the rent and another month of the landlords mortgage, and another month to pretend to your crashaholic online friends that you're moving to France. :money:

Daily Mail - asking prices slashed
Nice little article on the mail online today. Of course, everyone saw it coming, no surprises, London couldn't go up forever etc etc. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/property/article-4934348/Million-pound-homes-having-asking-prices-slashed.html Yeah, it's the mail, blah blah blah, but sentiment (amongst other things) blew this…

Bombardier blow
This really doesn’t look good for Northern Ireland in particular and the UK as a whole. There is so much hope of post-Brexit trade deals between us and the States so we will have to hope that this is a one off. Bombardier describes tariff ruling in Boeing row as 'absurd'…

Is house price inflation advantageous or a massive con?
I had to laugh at this Mash article, because it must describe the real situation to many home owners. Couple 'makes £100k' selling house only to realise they have to buy another on Assuming you still intend to live in a similar house in a similar area for the rest of your life all what house price inflation achieves is to…

40,000 Drivers to lose their jobs in the next 21 days
Tax payers are set to pick up the bill as 40,000 Uber drivers in London lose their jobs. Service industries will also be hard hit as people decide not to go to the theatre, clubbing etc because it costs too much to get home or there are simply no taxis available. We already pay through the nose for public transport as tube…

Natural disasters and the economy of the Caribbean
In recent weeks we've seen major natural disasters hitting the Caribbean region. From two earthquakes in Mexico, to the succession of hurricanes that have hit. Harvey thankfully didn't impact the region before hitting Houston. However Irma caused extensive damage to Barbuda, the British Virgin Islands, Cuba, Haiti, and the…

Petition to Stop 'Help to Buy'
Is it just me or is it not a bit sick that a collective bunch of bitter and twisted forum lunatics have gang together to propose and petition the end of the 'Help to Buy' scheme? A scheme that lifts thousands of young professionals out of their rent forever loser status into being a fully functioning member of society and…

Financial Planner Breaks Cover
Looks like Financial Planner, one of the original founding members of HPC loon central, has finally broken cover these last few days and is now predicting an interest rate rise. I wonder exactly how much money his dire predictions from way back in 2003 have lost his followers over these years? I shudder to think, so it's…

UK's credit rating downgraded by Moody's
The UK's credit rating has been cut over concerns about the UK's public finances and fears Brexit could damage the country's economic growth. Moody's, one of the major ratings agencies, downgraded the UK to an Aa2 rating from Aa1. It said leaving the European Union was creating economic uncertainty at a time when the UK's…

What way are mortgage rates going? How long to fix?
My current fixed-rate deal expires soon, so what do people think the mortgage future is going to look like? Should I fix for 2/5 years assuming they're going to go up? Should I hang onto the standard rate for a few months to see if they'll drop? I'm sitting at about 90% LTV so not getting a great deal anyway.
