Tidying up and closing Natwest Student Mastercard
Hello. New year resolutions time, and I thought I'd tidy up my finances a bit. I'd like to close down my Natwest card that I've had open since August 2005. Main reason is that there are quite a few recurring payments on there that I can't seem to get stopped. Also, I'm not too thrilled with their service (although their…

Why are they called credit cards?
Just thinking to myself, "why are credit cards not called debt cards"? If you buy something this creates a debt. Sometimes its only a short term loan until you get the bill, and for others they pay back the debt slowly. IMHO, calling the piece of plastic in our wallets/purses a "debt card" might make people think twice…

Tesco credit card - question
I apologise if this isn't the right way to do this, but I am new to the website but am at my wit's end. I made a payment to my Tesco credit card back in September via debit card but Tesco lost the payment and can't trace it. I have provided them with evidence that it was made (I sent them a copy of my bank statement) but…

Using a Nationwide CC for overseas cash advances
I used my Nationwide CC to get 200 euros last week in Austria. I have never used this system before and I know I have to pay £2 or 2%. I intend paying off my bill in full when the statement arrives as I always do. Will there be any other charges. My statement is due on the 22nd of the month.

Sky Credit Card
Have a look at the sky site . They are offering 0% to January 2008 on purchases and balance transfers. You are able to accumulate points to use on their rewards or off your sky bill. Applications are online but if you phone 08457302010 they will also send you an application pack. Hope this is useful to someone.

Cashback rule change - legal?
Given the recent success claiming back unfair bank charges for late payment, I wondered if anyone else new what the position is where a financial institution change cashback rules mid cashback period which make it harder to claim cashback. I have a Leeds & Holbeck credit card specifically because you get cashback on it. A…

Thomas Cook - New Card - Read the smallprint!
I have just got communication from Thomas Cook regarding the 'new' Thomas Cook Credit Card. You have to apply for a NEW card as they are switching to Barclays from MBNA. Please read the small print before doing so. It appears that the rate of 1.5 TC pounds per £100 spend has now gone down to £1 TC/£100. The new card is…

First Direct CC
I got my first FD CC statement today and it's all a little wierd. I've got £2000 on it and I'm supposed to be on a 2.9% for 6 months, but nowhere on the statement says the interest rate and the estimated interest for next month is £8.06. Does anyone know a way to work out what % I'm paying if I have to pay £8.06 on £2000,…

HSBC - Late payment charge, but no bill
One evening, shortly before Christmas, I got a telephone call from HSBC about my credit card. Without giving any explanation, I was asked whether I could make a payment that day. I told them that I could, and was asked if I had another credit or debit card I could give them to make payment. I was in the bath at the time,…

Can anyone help with a default?
Hi, wonder if anyone can offer some advice here is the situation; My OH had a Capital One credit card which he fell behind with the payments due to late charges etc. He put a claim in for the charges on the account and settled for 1/2 back, whilst this was going on they issued a default notice which they then agreed to…
