Innovative but easy catering for fund raising eventsnts
Involved with catering for up to 100 people for fund raising events in our local library. Any hints please for the few volunteers who have to make it work, i.e. easy options and which are good for preparing beforehand for finger buffets to reduce the work involved. Thanks.

Cosmetic samples
I subscribe to Birchbox and there's always loads of stuff in there that I don't use or want, mainly dry shampoos, hand creams, etcetera. They are only sample size but I was wondering if there is any where I can donate them to? I was looking at a site about Women's Refuge's but the one I found said it was not accepting…

Its weird as I was born 2 years and 2 days from when my sister passed away, my daughters birthday falls on 2 days later than what would…

Over 391,000 Rohingya children, women and men have been forced to flee to Bangladesh escaping violence in Myanmar since August 2017. :A They have arrived exhausted, hungry, and sick after walking for days from their villages through jungles, across mountains and rivers carrying what little they could bring from home. Free food (and household goods etc)
I discovered a free app called Olio a few weeks ago and think it's brilliant, I have already had quite a few free meals through it. I am not sure if it's a registered charity but it's definitely non-profit. So I hope it's okay to post on here about it, I have been going round telling everyone! :rotfl: The idea is to…

Consumer rights when dealing with charities
I recently received an email from a legitimate charity offering me a 25% discount on a ticket (as a previous customer). I clicked the link and found that they were offering a 15% discount to everyone but that the code they had given me to get 25% did not work. I called them and told them and they said they were working on…

where to donate larger items and children's toys?
My grandchildren have now outgrown the need for a high chair and stair-gate and I wanted to donate these (which I bought for them to use at my house) to a charity shop along with some of their early toys. They only visit occasionally as I mostly go over to them so the items are all in good condition. The local charity…

A fundraising idea - but I need advice
I had this idea today that to raise money for a charity bike ride I'm doing in July, all I need to do is ask each of my Facebook friends (235, I just checked - I know, it's low, I'm not a teenager and I don't sign up everyone I've ever met) to donate £1 and I might easily clear the £100 target I'm supposed to achieve. How…

Leaving money to charity in your Will
It used to be the case that if you left charitable donations in your will, that part of your estate was not liable to IHT. I have read somewhere that probate fees/death duties/IHT free donations have changed recently, but I am not able to find clear information myself. Can someone explain the new rules, or point me in the…

Charity sweets
Yesterday my wife bought a small bag of chocolate raisins from a Macmillan Sweets4 box left at her hairdressers. She didn't think twice about the £1 donation, Macmillan is a very worthy cause. It wasn't until she got home that she found out only 10 pence of that £1 actually goes to Macmillan. What a swindle by Sweets4,…
