But he, bless him, up until now, has been restricted to his Wii or PS2 as I wasn't happy to fork out for latest consoles etc. So.. It was just about fit for purpose but thinking a more up to date laptop would be better for the future, but have been out of the market for quite a while. As she does graphic design I was pondering an i7 with 8Gb…

Avast update - IE not working
I've just updated Avast free AV, and IE is now not working. When I try to open it, I get a dialog box saying a problem caused it to close unexpectedly, and it closes. I think I'm on IE 10 (can't check for sure as IE won't open!). Any ideas? I like IE and would rather not swap browsers - tried that before, had problems with…

A Tale of Two Wires
I don’t need help, I’m simply recounting this experience in case it helps someone else. Many years ago I ventured onto the internet with a dial-up modem and Virgin as my ISP over BT land line. Because my computer room was a couple of rooms away from my telephone socket, I purchased a ready-made 12 metre telephone extension…

Destroying a hard drive?
I want to dump my old PC. But it has a lot of private (and financial) info on it - not just mine but also regarding the company I used to work for, years ago. How physically do I get rid of this information? Where exactly is the hard drive (if that's what I need) and what does it look like. Do I take a hammer to it? Help.

What is the best value laser printer long term?
Can anyone recommend a good deal for a laser printer? I will use it a lot so want it to have a duplex function to save paper, and for replacement cartridges to be good value. I'd like to keep it in the office upstairs and print from laptops around the house, so it will need Wi-Fi (as my router is downstairs).
