Can't seem to uninstall S&D?

Surface scratch on laptop screen
I know there are products that take surface scratches out of glass but would these be suitable for use on the laptop screen? I've got an inch long surface scratch that keeps catching my eye and it's bugging me. Not sure if I'd make matters worse by trying to polish it out though.

Unable to boot from cd drive
I am trying to reinstall Xp on a Dell Optiplex GX150 but cannot get it to boot from the cd drive.
