Buy computer now or wait till uni??
Hi, I am starting university in september and was going to buy myself a fairly cheapish laptop. However, I was told that it might be worth holding on until I start as I may be eligible for a discount once I get to uni. Is this true and how much might the discount be? Also, is there anywhere that will allow me to purchase…

Can you get a UK bank account if you don't 'exist'
What if you were born in England, so have a British passport, but have lived in say, Sri Lanka or Timbuktoo since you were a little baby... so you don't exist on any electoral rolls (banks check the UK electorall roll for credit scoring) [Suppose you just want a basic 'cash only' account so you don't need credit/overdraft…

Save £104 a year on the National Lottery
I've always believed it's a tax on people who don't understand maths It's like saying, Pick a number between 1 and 14,000,000 (14 million), and if you guess correctly you'll win the jackpot

Free copy of the Guardian newspaper every day (Observer on sunday)
Just walk into any Thistle hotel. Que up at reception. Ask something like Do you have a free double room in 2 weeks time on Tuesday? Then stroll towards the exit. There is a big pile of Guardian, FT (if you're interested in that), take one and stroll out. No use to me - i only use newspaper for putting on the floor when I…

Best Bank Account Whilst Studying
Hello chaps! I have recently secured a place on a dental course which will start this September. Having been in full-time employment for some 10+ years since my last bout of study, I am unfamiliar with the types of account preferred by students. All I know is that there are plenty of providers offering a miriad of options.…

university clearing
I have a 17 year old son who has a uni place for September dependent on his grades. However, chatting with him he is convinced he won't get the grades and is feeling very low. He had exceptionally good GCSE results but his AS were dreadful as part of the time he had no teacher for one of the subjects and trainees on one of…

Not sure if this is in the right place so feel free to move it if it isn't!! I graduated in Summer 2002 and loan repayment started to come out of my wages in December 2002.
