P2P tax relief questions
I think I understand the basic rules around tax relief offset against P2P income. I have a question around this though for when filling in the 2019/20 SA return:For any given platform do I HAVE to declare tax relief on loans defaulted on even though it will not make a difference to the tax I pay since I will be well within…

Moving dirty to clean
Bad I know, should have all been done yonks ago , but we still have a few dirty ISA funds hanging around , all held direct . Should get them onto a platform like maybe AJ Bell . Am I right in thinking that because dirty, the receiving platform will have to sell them all and repurchase in the clean version rather than being…

Vanguard Life Strategy OCF
Hi. I'm relatively new to investing and have what is maybe a stupid question. I have been trying to create a balanced portfolio using a number of index funds - UK equities, Global Equities, Gilts and so on and largely selecting funds with the lowest OCF. The Vanguard Lifestyle funds look like a good alternative strategy to…

NS&I Website
Hi Everyone, Is anyone else having issues getting on the NS&I web site, first of all there was a 15 min queue, then when I tried to log in, it said there might be an issue and to call them. When I called, there is a 30 min wait. Is this normal for them, I have not used them before, just opened an account and wanted to…

Help to Buy ISA - Halifax not accepting transfers?
I currently have a H2B ISA with Nationwide. Following their interest rate cut, I was hoping to transfer it somewhere else. I chose Halifax as the rate was only marginally worse than HSBC and I expected Halifax to have better customer service and be slightly easier to setup/manage as I already have an account with them.…

Aviva Smooth Managed fund
Hello All, With the Covid 19 pandemic my fund took a dip. I was told this particular fund was supposed to be resistant to fluctuations in the markets. Are Aviva responsible for the losses incurred or do I just have to take it on the chin

Sold 50% of portfolio at the bottom, want to reinvest but how?
Hi all, I made the stupid mistake of selling half of my portfolio in the middle of March (stupid mistake and I hope to not repeat it again!). The market has since risen 15% and I don't need the money since it was for FIRE. What is the general consensus regarding putting it back? Should I just lump it back in and wear the…

Inflation risk on savings
Hi, With savings/deposit interest rates being less than inflation - I am just wondering what people use as the %age drag for this in their planning. I was thinking of using -1% per year. Does this sound about right as an assumption? Thanks

Rpoints Forum Disappeared
The Rpoints Forum has disappeared. I rarely go there but found it had a group of good experts there that knew the inside track especially on the politics of Building Societies. Do you know where these people have gone? Do they frequent these forums or somewhere less afraid of libel laws?

Tesco Internet Saver rate reduction
Not entirely unexpected, but just received letter saying that Tesco Bank are reducing their Internet Saver rate from 0.35% to 0.1% on August 11th (obviously any fixed bonus on top of this is not affected) :-(

Transferring previous years' Cash ISAs
Seeking advice here for transferring my 2019-2020 Cash ISA, whose rate has dropped from 0.60% to 0.10%, to a new provider for a better rate without opening a new ISA. My difficulty is that the funds are over £100K. I also have the previous year's (2018-2019) ISA with another provider, whose rate has dropped to 0.01%. The…

Vanguard Dividend Payment
According to the Vanguard website, a dividend payment was made on 29th May 2020, but the payment is not yet appearing on my account. I had been expecting it to be on my account on Friday as this should be nothing more than an internal transfer. Does anyone know if this delay is typical of Vanguard? As this would be my…

Moving money out of ISA
Hi, my ISA rate has just dropped and looking around there are not many better options. I am part of 2 credit unions (Penny Post and Commsave) and I know past performances are not an indication of future dividends especially with the impact of Coronavirus but both unions have given over 2% the past 5 years. I want to take…

Is the equity region allocation landscape changing.......?
I'm just wondering if this is a good time to review this in the wake of Covid-19? My thinking is a lot of funds (popular, 'man in the street', trackers etc.) are heavily weighted towards North America, and rightly so given it's the world's biggest economy and it's performance over the last decade. However, given how hard…
