Yorkshire Bank £150 incentive
I opened a new Yorkshire Bank account in November 2015 (26/11/2015). The switch completed a couple of weeks ago. I remember speaking to customer services who informed me that you must credit your account within 31 days of switching. I cannot find anything in writing that states the £1000 must be credited within 31 days of…

What happens if I inherit property after opening a help to buy ISA?
If I open a HTB ISA today there is a significant chance that before I have saved enough for a deposit I will have inherited a flat from my Grandmother's Estate. The Estate will be shared with one other party. Where would I stand in these circumstances? Thanks for reading.

21 year old recently Inherited 7 figure sum - advise?
Hello all, hope you're having a nice day. I won't go into too much detail. I don't have much knowledge on this subject and not sure where to begin but I do know I'm incredibly lucky to be given this opportunity at a young age. I want to be able to live off of this and not have financial difficulty in future. A little about…

Halifax HTB ISA interest
I'm looking to open a Help To Buy ISA (a month late, I know!), The obvious choice is Halifax, but it says the interest is paid annually. Seeing as i'm looking to buy this year and therefore not planning on having the ISA for 12 months (probably 6-10 months), does this mean I would not receive any interest, or would the…

Which shares are you buying in 2016 and why?
I'm starting to build a retirement portfolio of individual shares based predominantly on yield, stability [upside potential]. The last bit is less important but any uplift would be nice. I should add that this is in addition to some funds that I already hold, some index ETF's and cash. So looking to add some balance and…

Cleared debt and had approx £100k left over. Rather than rushing into anything spent a month mulling over what to do whilst the funds sat in my HSBC instant…

iii - For a simple portfolio
Hi I'm approaching the value in my SIPP where moving to a fixed fee rather than % fee online broker is required to keep costs down. iii appear to be the cheapest for what I need however after reading the iii thread intermittently for nearly two years I'm kind of put off. I get the impression that the mega thread about iii,…

Investing proceeds of sale on a London property (Expat)
I moved to Israel 5 years ago and do not have any intention of returning to the UK. I have recently put my London apartment on the market (due to a low rental yield and high mortgage) and will walk away with around 170k. I have also bought an apartment in Israel and it will be completed in 2 years time. During the two…

Switch Fixed Rate bond to single name
My OH and I have a 5 year fixed rate bond with Birmingham Midshires that will end in May. It's at 5% gross and in joint names. For tax reasons it would be preferable to have the final years interest just in my name. Anyone know if its possible to change a bond from joint to sole names without affecting anything.

Should I be leaving gaps in between applications for Savings accounts?
I'm in the process of sorting out my accounts for interest purposes, and also to have a separate account for the challenges that I'm doing this year. I applied and was accepted for a second Tesco current account on New Year's Eve. This week I've applied for a passbook account with Coventry BS (to pay in full bags of Sealed…

£24,000 isa
My wife has an ISA worth just under £24,000 with the Halifax which matures this month. She is also a non-tax payer. Is there any safe better alternatives as they're offering 2% for a 5 Year Fixed. Cheers BL52

NS&I 5 Year Growth Bond - A good deal?
The 5 Year NS&I Growth Bond provides 2.55% interest. There is a 90 day penalty on the interest of the sum cashed in early. This seems quite a good deal to me because I can cash in 1,2,3 or 4 years later at 1.91% if I need the money, and of course 2.55% for the full term. After April 2016 this will be net interest. I cannot…

Opening an account to open an account.....
I see quite a lot of "switch current account and get paid £xxx" type of deals. However, I don't want to switch my current account, because I like it. So, is there any downside or catch to opening an "ordinary" current account purely with the intent to then take say the M&S deal a few months later using that new account ?…
