Delay in buying funds
1) Hi all, just opened a S&S ISA, is it normal to have to wait several days for a purchase to go through? If I am trying to take advantage of a drop in the market will I be paying at the price I originally but the purchase in, or at the price later on when it is purchased? E.g. there was a dip on Friday and I tried to buy…

Help to Buy ISA
I have been investing in the stock market for a few years now, probably with the ultimate aim of getting a house deposit together. I have next to zero cash savings. Is putting away £200 a month into a help-to-buy ISA as much of a no-brainer as it sounds to me?

Where is best for my savings.
I have £12k in a HSBC online bonus saver account. I have just opened a Halifax Help to Buy ISA, and put in £1000 and set up my direct debit. I want to move £10k into something with a better inrerest rate. I dont want to tie my money up for a long time, but i am confused about where to put it. I usually save £300 a month so…

£100 rule - could it work in a child's favour?
Just an idle thought. Under the £100 rule if a parent invests for a child, even in a Bare Trust, the money is taxed as if it is the parents if the income exceeds £100pa. But what is the parent is a low/nil rate tax payer (e.g. retired) and the child is a higher rate tax payer (e.g. a 16 year old with an Ebay business).…

Adding to BaillieGifford trust
Hi. A couple of years ago I contacted BG direct , and opened bare trusts (Scottish Mortgage) for my 2 grandchildren who had been left 5k each from my mother. My husband and I are trustees. We'd now like to make our own contribution to these using our £3k 'giving' allowances. Possibly now with the stock market looking…

Confusion over Tax Voucher (Equalisation)
I made two purchases into an accumulation fund in March 2014,1-3 weeks before the ex date 01/04. The distribution date was (listed as) 31/05/2014. So my understanding is that for the tax year 2014-2015 I have received a (notional) dividend. Therefore I was expecting a tax voucher detailing this amount and an amount of…

Experiences with SelfTrade?
I am thinking of moving my S&S fund (unwrapped) and my S&S ISA to SelfTrade. I understand their charges but I'd be interested to hear about their customer service standard, speed of producing CTVs etc. etc? (You might not be surprised to hear that it's III that I'm seeking to leave.) Thanks for your time.

First steps into savings in the UK
Hi everyone; I moved in the UK 6 months ago and after discovering MSE I realised I should think more about savings. Currently, I'm holding a c/a with Natwest and I got a credit card giving me some cashback. I got c.£4,000 on my c/a... (I know how stupid it is). When I moved in I tried to open a Satander 123 account but got…

Please help! I have only had to think about money and accounts over the past year or two as I am only young however I feel a little confused … I know ISAs are tax-free but why are we taxed on our savings? Cheapest way to access VCTs (and EIS)
For those of you who have invested in VCTs and or EIS on a non-advised basis, which broker do you generally find is the cheapest to buy them through? (Am looking to make some further investments before end of this tax year so thought I would check if there may now be cheaper brokers since I last invested. I have primarily…

Is it possible to have more than one current account.
I would like to take advantage of saving rates with different banks, but the best ones require you to have a current account with them too. Can you have more than one current account ? Any advice would be really helpful. Thanks

To H2B ISA or not?
This website calls the H2B ISA a "no brainer" if you're a first time buyer. I'm not sure I agree and I wonder if anyone else has their reservations? Once I've saved enough I'll be looking to buy in Cambridge, ideally in c. 5 years but probably longer. Cambridge is EXTREMELY expensive. You can't even get a decent 1 bed flat…

Help about new bank savings interest from April 2016
Hi we currently have money tied up in ISA's and have heard from April 2016 regular savings accounts will not take tax on the first £1000 of interest! Will this £1000 include any of the interest we currently get from our ISA's? Basically, if I get £1001 in interest from my ISA can I still then get the £1000 interest from…
