My OH and his mother have a small joint shareholding in Santander. They would like to split this shareholding in half each into their own names. Can this simply be done by writing a joint letter to the registrars with instructions to split and enclosing the share certificates?

Best and safest savings?
My stepson is about to turn 18 and is then due to inherit approximately £3000 from his Mother's estate. Unlike his he has Aspergers Syndrome & lacks the mental capacity to choose what he will do with this money. It can be tied up for a good few years at least, so access to it is not an issue. We would just like it to be…

Hi All I have about £26k to invest. I have already used my ISA allowance for this year so that isn't an option. I'm thinking of sticking £20k in a Santander 123 account (at 3%), and the remaining £6k in two Tesco bank accounts (at 3%). I'm a non tax payer. Can anyone think of a better plan?! Does the Santander 123 account…

First time savings 18 year old
Hi My 18 year old has his first paid job. He is living at home still and I would like to encourage him to save something per month whilst his living costs are low. What to do with approx £50,000 savings?
Hi, I'm 22, and by my 23rd birthday I estimate I will have saved £50,000 (or thereabouts), through a mixture of blood, sweat and tears and not spending anything! What is the best thing to do with this money to make it grow? I'm quite a risk-averse individual, just to point out :)

Royal Mint £20 Coin: An Investment or just a keepsake?
I recently purchased the Royal Mint silver £20 coin which was brought out to commemorate the Queen being the longest serving monarch. It cost £20 to buy. Do you think there is any chance that this will actually increase in value over time or is it just a mere trinket of the queen's reign? Only 150,000 of them have been…

What are the downsides to short term investments
Hi, I know the golden rule. If you're not prepared to lock your money away for 5-10+ years then you shouldn't invest. But what are the reasons for this? Obviously there's the reason that markets can fall in the short term and there's more chance of getting back less than you put in if you take it out soon. But is that it?…
