Life question

First I would like to point out 2 things. My English is quite broken, so please keep that in mind. The second thing...this will be quite a long post so please read through if you would like to contribute and give some tips.

First I will tell a little bit about myself, later I will ask for suggestions.

I am 23 years old, live in Slovenia and I have a day job. On the weekends I also clean stairs and try to earn some money online. All together I get less than 1K EUR per month. I also have expenses like rent, food, gas and all others so I am not really able to save a whole lot. I have a lot of free time that I could use to work on something that will get me to the point where I want to be. The problem is that I dont know what to do, and thats also the reason why I am writing all this.

I have been thinking about many different things, I like online business the most as you are not limited to offering services and stuff to your country only. I have been thinking of learning forex trading, offering all kinds of services, starting my own brand (design and sell products), and few other things. Now my biggest problem is, that I dont know what to pick and start. I have had a website where I was offering all kinds of graphic designs from logos to flyers and pretty much everything else, but as I didnt knew where would I get clients I simply got 0 from that site. This is my biggest problem with this kinds of businesses as I dont know where and how to get clients.

I came here, because many people already live a lifestyle that I am trying to achieve. I want to say thank you to everyone who reads and replies to this thread, and I hope to meet new people

Have a great day everyone.

    Firstly, welcome!

I'm not sure that anyone on here will be able to offer advice relating specifically to Slovenia, but in general it makes sense to concentrate on doing something that:
    • You're good at
    • You enjoy doing
    • You're qualified to do
    • There is a market for
Although the internet has indeed brought down many barriers, I wouldn't be too swayed by the idea that it's easy to do something profitable across borders if you're already finding it difficult to generate income locally, so again I'd suggest concentrating on your own country to start with.

Unfortunately there aren't really any shortcuts, you need to do some local research to identify opportunities, whether that's via friends, family, work colleagues, local businesses, libraries, chambers of commerce or whatever. Your English seems fine to me, perhaps translation services?

    Anyway, good luck!

Your english is pretty good, so good start there. and 12E earnings isn't bad for your part of the world I think.

But I agree with post 2, the internet isn't always the best place to operate esp for those operating in a language that is not their own, and 2, make money doing things you know about/are good at.
  • Have a look at some of the threads in the "Boost your income" section of this site, you might get some ideas on there too: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=145
  • Hi

Since Slovenia is about my most favourite country and it's populated with some of the nicest, friendliest people I've ever met I've been trying hard to think of some ideas for you.

I think my best suggestion is to look to tourists if you're anywhere near Ljubljana, Piran, Bled etc... In the words of one pseudo-celebrity from a few years ago they are "juicy bags of money" and I don't think the competition is really there yet.

How about running walking tours of Ljubljana for example, 2,000 of history to talk about there.
  • Wow, very nice response from all of you. Thank you very much. Will check all the provided links and info and see what would be the best.

Also Andy thank you a lot for all the nice words, will check out your idea too. I also think there is no real competition so this may be one of the best ideas man :)

Thanks again and have a great day everyone.
