Am a teeny tiny micro investor... And not very good at it.
Should I improve my fortunes by buying some shares in vw?
Or would that just be daft!

It's not investing, it's speculating.. maybe worth an idle punt out of curiosity - I wouldn't hang a financial planning strategy on it mind! It was only in 2010 that the group was (briefly) the most valuable company in the world.Independent Financial Adviser.0

I may have an idle punt but when I search my app, there are 8 different volkswagen ag options....
Why?!
And why are they different?
And which is the right one?!
Clueless?

IMHO, if you don't know the answer to that, you shouldn't be buying individual shares

I appreciate your opinion, but if you could answer my question, I'd appreciate that even more!
Cheers champ!:cool::cool: lurker:cool::cool:0 -
Buying shares when a price falls sharply can sometimes be a good decision, because markets can overreact. My biggest regret was not buying Thomas Cook when they fell to 10p. However, VW could potentially be facing a fine of £16 billion from the US Government (and deservedly so). I wouldn't buy their shares now. Or their cars.0

Potentially, yes... That's the gamble! The deepwater horizon gulf oil spill could have reached 13.7 billion but settled at 5.5- have read other examples and I feel like a flutter. Am not going to stake my life savings on it, so don't panic, folks... I just can't work out which to go for when I search 'volkswagen' on my youinvest app.
Obviously, I'm no expert - but if someone could help me out, that would be nice.

But have you factored that in? At the moment VW is the only car manufacturer that we know has been defrauding consumers as well as governments. A lot of people care passionately about the environment, and that's one reason for buying diesels. If VW are the only lying cheats then they could end up losing a lot of business in addition to paying fines in the US.0 -

^ what ggs said, at least not in foreign shares.
@sparkychris, there is no right or wrong line of stock to buy. But VW's primary listing is on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. (FRA:VOW)"If you aren’t willing to own a stock for ten years, don’t even think about owning it for ten minutes” Warren Buffett

Thanks George....
Have searched and when I type Volkswagen into my share dealing wassit, I have four options under ' Volkswagen ag non vtg prf npv'
The first two both quote prices in gbp but are very different although the descriptions are exactly as quoted above...
Can anybody enlighten me?
( the first is 128, the other is 78)
Please resist the urge to say something boring and predictable such as 'If you have to ask that then you don't know the answer'... Because that's sort of obvious really.
I have a genuine question, have been googling it all night and can't find the answer...
Thank you, team.:cool::cool: lurker:cool::cool:0 -
I'm no expert on this but I would have thought that these were various categories of non-voting preference shares rather than the main company stock.0
