TSB Monthly Saver
Hi, I'm looking to start a new savings pot and had a few questions about the TSB Monthly Saver. I already have a TSB Classic Plus so that part is taken care of. From what I read on their website, they say that you can vary your SO but that you can't replace/make up payments later. I want to retain the option to vary the…

Savings maturity Amount Problem
Hi All I would really appreciate your help as i'm having a bit of a disagreement with a bank over a maturity amount. If you invested £18,508.38 in a three year fixed account with an interest rate of 4.25 per annum what would the total amount be once the account matured.? If you then reinvested the matured amount in a one…

Lost shares
My mother has had to move into a care home suffering with dementia. I know she has some shares from the days the financial institutions were giving them out but her paperwork is patchy and she can't remember any details. Can anyone suggest how the family can find out what shares she has in which companies, and how to get…

Vanguard UK Dividend Fund?.
Morning All, I am wondering what others think of this fund which I am looking at as a way of creating additional income from dividends. I have checked on Trustnet etc,and while the last 3-5 years have been good, the last few months have seen a drop, partly, say Trustnet due to it's weighting in Oil/Mining companies. I have a…

Tax on savings next year
I have some fixed-rate bonds taken out some time ago which are due to pay out in May 2016 or later. Will these be paid gross even if I haven't filled and don't fill out an R85, or is this not entirely set in stone yet? If I remain a basic rate taxpayer, under what circumstances would I need to pay tax on them?

123 Direct Debit
Hopefully somebody can answer this for me? I have a 123 account on which I earn max interest. I have had the two direct debits set up for over a year both of which are paid every month. Next month one of the direct debits will not hit the 123 account but will continue again the following month. It will remain set up and…

HSBC premier New Password request
Each time I log into my account recently, The web site, once I have logged in using my username, security questions and secure key, then asks me to create a new password. This seems strange to me, rather like a phising request seeking to steal my data ( and cash) I work abroad and I was unable to get a satisfactory answer…

Short term student savings
Hi everyone, First post, so please go easy. I took some time out of university as I got ill. This meant my student grant was accidentally overpaid. I got a letter saying I could pay back the overpayment by cheque, or they'd just take it out of my next instalment. I figured I could just put in a fixed rate savings account…

New FSCS limit coming
Has anyone seen that the FSCS limit is being lowered next year? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/personalfinance/savings/11716470/FSCS-savings-compensation-rules-the-new-75000-limit.html Any ideas how this works if you are tied into fixed rate bonds with a penalty clause to remove money?

PIBS vs Ratesetter?
Mrs Caronoel and I have come into a bit of a windfall recently, and are now sitting on a six figure sum and wondering g where to invest it for the next 3 to 5 years. We are happy to take a modicum of risk, so I was considering either a crowd funding site like Zopa or Rates ether (offering rate of 5% and up) or sticking it…

A balanced portfolio.....are bonds a risk?
Afternoon All, Having trawled through various forums, financial websites, newspapers etc, there seems to be an air of negativity/uncertainty surrounding Bonds in the event of an interest rate rise?. I have done all of the Savings Accounts investments and always filled the ISA allocations each year and was thinking of putting…

Can I open a cash ISA after already opening a S&S ISA this tax year
Hi guys, I'm aware you can't open more than one cash ISA per tax year but can't work out if this one account limit applies across ISA types. I have already opened a S&S ISA with Cavendish Online and begun funding it monthly. I'm thinking about opening a HSBC Advance account to get the switching bonus and then opening the…

Ongoing Interest Rate rise speculation (latest)
Hi, Here's a bearish article on interest rate rises suggesting it might be some time before we see one. It seems like the BOE would like to raise rates, and is warming us up to this, but every month brings news that pours cold water on the prospect for the next couple of months anyway. I wonder if Japan thought they'd see…

Appropriate place to save
Hi, Hypothetically speaking, if you were to receive around £100k to be put away for a year or two and then used on a house deposit; where should it be saved ideally? Does that kind of money need a special account? I am aware that ISAs have a maximum limit for saving per year. So what are the other options? Thanks Matt

What do you class as a successful investment?
Greetings. Some of you might argue that as long as your investment returns a profit, then you're investment is successful but if you got a pass or an E on an exam, you'd probably see that as a fail, despite the fact you passed. I look at some funds and stocks and compare them to mine and even though I've only been doing it…
