Hi, I have recently liquidated an asset and have the cash in an Indonesian bank in IDR. I am being told there is a maximum limit I can transfer to a UK account. Is this true or is it only true if they do the foreign exchange at the Indonesian end to sterling to then make the transfer? Any advice on this and how I might do…

TSB monthly saver standing order help
Hi all I've just opened a TSB Monthly Saver and am finding the internet banking offering rather poor. There was an option on the screen called 'start saving now' once I'd opened the account, which I assumed I'd click on and they'd ask for the standing order amount, but it wasn't clickable and I can't see any way at all to…

Interest vs dividends
Greetings, can someone explain to me the difference between these two? Interest is simple enough, deposit money, earn interest on that money and now you have more than when you started. Although with dividends I don't think it's quite as simple. Say you invest in a company that has a dividend payout of 4% per year. and you…

Most diversified Vanguard fund?
Hi, I'm a big fan of funds such as Fidelity World Index which has incredibly low expenses but also is 100% diversified based on market weighting. I also really like the Vanguard funds, due to the way they're structured and also the low fees. I want to invest directly with Vanguard (don't want everything with just one…

Hello MSE-ers. I am new to the forums - please be gentle as I am not the most financially savvy. I want to start making some smarter decisions about my savings. I have about £23k in a cash ISA, some of which will be required to pay my tax bill come January. I haven't yet settled my accounts but am working on the basis that…

Risk scores
Can I ask the familiar question about bond prospects in a slightly different way and in the context of a SIPP? Risk appetite is usually scored on a linear scale of eg 1 (low risk) to 10, with the lowest risk portfolios being largely in cash. But the 3-10 bands traditionally seem to be built up from a high proportion of…

www.x-o.co.uk terms & conditions
I'm looking for a suitable online platform/broker to enable me to trade shares & ETFs (possibly within an ISA that I would transfer into from my old cash ISA). With this in mind, I've been studying the terms & conditions for x-o.co.uk and saw the following:"7.12 Where a transaction involves the sale of securities within…

Milk price/oil price
So farmers want more for their milk. I would as well, it makes no sense to sell milk at a loss and the inevitable will happen to those that do. So what has oil price got to do with the price of milk? Oil is just a step ahead of milk. A couple of years ago oil was $150/barrel now it's $49 or thereabouts. The Saudis kept the…

Best option for my children's saving accounts?
I have two children ages 4 and 15. They each have a junior isa in nationwide - which I opened last year (I haven't put any money in these yet this year). My mum is going to put £1500 in each isa for them. They each have 10,000 in a bond, which has matured - it is this money that I don't know what to do with. Do I go with…

House Deposit in Current Account
I am in the process of buying a property with my girlfriend. We have £31,500 sitting in a joint current account and this is the total value of our deposit.
