Advice for young saver. Best place to grow my savings.
I'm 21 and currently living with my parents in London. I've managed to save around £13k but it's just languishing in a current account gaining next to no value. To put the reasons for saving into perspective, I really think renting is a total waste of money and so I am aiming to save a deposit and go straight into owning…

Children's Savings
My partner and I have savings for our 10-year old daughter in a Nationwide Child Trust Fund, Halifax Regular / Young Saver accounts and a Lloyds Young Saver Account. We pay money on a monthly basis into the Halifax Regular Saver, which pays 6% interest fixed for 1 year and then the balance is transferred to a Halifax Young…

Shares ISA Trading
On the MSE ISA Guide it gives an example of a shares ISA: "Situation: Mr Rich Devil invests £11,520 in a shares ISA at the beginning of the tax year. Options: He may sell the whole investment, or part of it, at any time without losing the tax benefits. But no more may be bought inside that year's ISA wrapper." I understand…

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong section but I'm looking for some advice around selling my company shares. I work for Tesco and invest monthly into share schemes and receive free shares yearly. Virgin Money
Hi. I am thinking of opening one of their accounts and am wondering what experiences other MSE members have had with them regarding efficiency and ease of paying in and withdrawing money. I already have the usual bank accounts paying 3% and need an account to 'park' money that I will need at a later date ,possibly later in…

Tesco Bank
Is anyone else having trouble with Tesco Bank? Internet Saver opened online six weeks ago. Setting up a direct debit to pull money from a Santander 123 account was part of the application process and is working. Opened a second Santander 123 account but could not set up another direct debit with Tesco Bank because Tesco…

Bank didn't notify me when they cut savings rate
I've had an RBS account for several years. I was getting 3% interest this time last year. I just checked the website, and the rate's been cut to 0.5%. It wasn't a short-term bonus, 3% was the headline rate. To be honest, I'm surprised it wasn't cut earlier. I'm annoyed, though, because they didn't notify me before they did…

Move from HL? Vanguard LS vs Blackrock Consensus
As I recently mentioned in another thread, I currently have about £30K invested in VLS60 within a SIPP at HL. My wife has a smaller holding of the same fund within an ISA, also with HL. Disregarding the question as to why I have the fund in a SIPP instead of a personal pension (£24 pa platform charge pre RDR was cheap and…

Current ISA with 11.5k in it what to do?
My current ISA has paid 0.25% over the last year. Should i just take the cash out and reinvest it in other accounts. I read somewhere that withdrawing the cash is a no no due to losing tax free benefits. Its not been a good ISA for a year though so does this still apply. Or i could take some of the balance out and transfer…

I have been doing some reading and I see i have 3 options. 1.) roll into new employers 401k plan 2.) roll into an IRA 3.) cash out. Question about paying tax on current account interest
Hello, I'm researching ISA's at the mo, but have noticed that the Santander 123 AER is 3% on balances over £3000. My husband and I have about £16K between our two ISAs which we could pool in my name. I earn about £8.5-£9K over the year, but am self employed as well as employed part time, so I end up paying PAYE tax, which…

Multi Manager Funds
Looking for some help on finding the best comparison sites for MM funds. I am more than capable (I think) of selecting my own funds but for portfolios I manage for my wife and my ma-in-law who have no knowledge or interest in such things, I worry about what they will do if/when I pop off. I have no intention of doing that…

Platform fees for the beginner..
I was all set to start my S&S ISA journey with HL but held off as I'd read about the fee changes. I think I now understand how platform & fund fees work but would love it if someone more knowledgable to confirm. My plan is simple. I plan to fill an S&S ISA each year with the Vanguard LS funds. This year's will be filled…
