Do Not Bet On A Broad Emerging Markets Recovery - FT
From today's FT: Valuations are more attractive but stock picking is important One striking aspect of last year’s markets is the extent to which emerging market assets underperformed those in advanced economies. "Investment trusts trounce the competition" says FT
"Umpteen academic studies make clear that over the long run active managers tend to fail to match their benchmark. This makes the 2013 outperformance of one small and apparently outdated section of the fund management universe look all the more impressive. UK investment trusts have trounced their competition, and they have…

Any broker recommendations?
I'm getting fed up with such a low rate of interest on my savings, I am considering getting into shares. I've played around with this idea for a long time, but have never taken plunge. It's not something I would do on a whim either, I have done some research but brokers seem a little lite on the recommendations side, and…

Investing Personal Injury Trust money
I have settled a personal injury claim, and as my earning potential is severely affected, I need to think about investing some of the money into some interest bearing saving accounts. I spoke to the company that set up the PIT account, and apparently, as long as the saving account is in the name of the trust, any money…

Pension fund choice
I am 30 and in the company pension and always just let it do its own thing having originally chosen one of the 'lifestyle' choices when I first joined. I decided to review this today and there doesn't really seem to be many funds available for us to choose from, ignoring the bonds, gilts and medium/low risk options leaves:…
