One way of approaching the problem

    1) Ensure you have 6 months living expenses held as cash.

    2) Make a financial plan showing when you need access to how much money. Split the £100K into separate pots like 0-5 years, 5 years-10 years, 10 years-retirement, retirement.

    3) add the 0-5 years money to the 6 months cash, perhaps as long term deposit accounts that mature just before you need the money.

    4) Invest the rest in S&S ISAs, pensions etc. Depending on how much money this is you may want to talk to an IFA.

The key activity is for you to decide what for and when you want the money. This isnt cast in stone but it forms an essential basis for a sensible allocation.

windfall of £100,000, what do I do with it, put it into property? ISA?or what x

Pick a number between 1 and 200,000. That is effectively the criteria you have given us.

    We need more info.
