Tate, Nat Grid and GoAhead...
National Grid shares were recommended back in January by Motley Fool along with Tate and Lyle. Tate mainly as a more reliable defensive for longer term growth. I have also personally been monitoring GoAhead group shares which seem to be quite positive. Any opinions on each would be appreciated.

Now worried about identity theft
Today I had my wallet stolen (pickpocket) from my bag. Amongst other things it contained my Credit card, Bank Card, Driver's License and Rail card plus money. I've immediately informed my bank and credit card companies who have cancelled these. However, I am very worried about my driver's license showing my name, address,…

How much should I aim for - in Savings
Just a question - I'm starting to get a little pot of savings together - I just wondered if you have an amount that you feel you want to get to - or do you just save for ever? I have few little pots for different things and a bigger one (that I don't touch) which I think I will try and keep going for as long as I can?

Brokers that share commission OFF platform?
Are there any brokers / IFAs left who will share commission on funds held directly with product providers, outside an ISA? Thanks

Calling all experienced share traders!
With Natinal Grid trading at a 5 year high and close to an all-time high is now the time to sell? I got most of them free as an ex-employee from profit sharing schemes and have held on to them for the yield. I dont need the money in cash but are they realistically likely to go much higher .... should I sell and buy back if…

Selling shares
Hi A few years ago I inherited some shares in a top UK company when my grandfather passed away. I signed up with Equiniti and since then they have been posting me cheques with dividends twice a year. Since the value of these shares is quite negligable (<£500), I have now decided the best thing to do is sell these shares…

Tax rate savings
Hi my wages are 40k/year. I was wondering what rate of tax I would have to pa on any savings account I had that wasn't wrapped in an isa? I ran an oline calculator and it said on a 3% account I would pay 1.8% that seemed too high to me

Historic Risk Score.
Is there any summary reference point to pick up the historic risk score for funds without digging down into the fund KIDs? I know trustnet give their own comparator risk score but it was more the generic 1-10?

Executor investment advice on behalf of a 17yr-old
I am looking after a large sum as an executor of my late sisters estate for her 17 yr-old son (18 in March next year)-18 is when he can inherit the money in his own right of course. I've looked at several accounts but banks don't want to open an account in these circumstances ie: an executor investing on behalf of a 17yr…

Bit of basic advice wanted
Can ask you guys a question please? I keep reading about the various ratios of different holdings within an overall financial portfolio. For example, I think the general advice is no more than 5%, of your overall portfolio to be held in gold? I guess I have 5 different types of financial holding. The property we live in…

Investment Strategy based on Google Search terms
Seems interesting, although not all of the related search terms (eg. color) have financial relevance, so I guess some terms would be correlated by chance?

How do you define wealth?
I was looking at Barclays Wealth Management site and I noticed the minimum to save/invest of ~£5,000. What is your definition of wealth? My net worth is apparently ~£4k so in few months (according to Barclays) I might be wealthy enough to give them my business. For me wealth is, of course, measured in financial terms. I am…

After maxing out ISA S & S
Hi, I have maxed out my ISAS. I was wondering if it would be worth sinking more money into a private stakeholder pension fund I have with HSBC. This was frozen four years ago when I joined an occupational scheme. I know there are tax advantages for doing so but I wanted to know if other people had done the same with their…

Ftse 100?
Newbie here, I'm trying to find the list of all constituents. First of all why it called FTSE 100 when the constituents are 101? Secondly, if you look at the FTSE 100 on Yahoo Finance , the list is not same as the one on London Stock Exchange website. For example BT.A ( BT GROUP ) is not included on Yahoo list, same for…

I am not sure whether this is the correct forum. However I would like to divest some of my cash into USD and Euros. Is anyone able to advise the best way to convert sums of £10k+ into these currencies. I am looking to get better than the poor conversion rates offered by the big banks but am also concerned about the risks…

Shares gone!
Hi, I had a few shares (88) which were just sitting in my Halifax share account. I had an email from Halifax to say a corporate action was occuring and I should check my "Important messages" on my account. Well I did and there was nothing indicated to say I needed to do anything so I left the shares running. Now I check my…
