Ftse 100?

Options
Newbie here, I'm trying to find the list of all constituents.

First of all why it called FTSE 100 when the constituents are 101?

Secondly, if you look at the FTSE 100 on Yahoo Finance , the list is not same as the one on London Stock Exchange website.

For example BT.A ( BT GROUP ) is not included on Yahoo list, same for BSY BSKYB.

Despite both lists are 101 constituents.

I'm confused a bit, any help?

  • Thanks, but what about some companies that don't exist on FTSE 100 Yahoo Finance?

Such as BT.A ( BT GROUP ) and BSY BSKYB?

Try EWU for a USA ETF on FTSE which may be more accurate or not but more comparable world wide as its in dollars. Or ISF same but sterling

Some companies are not included in ftse indexes as they have not meet certain index eligibilty criteria. Criteria include things like listing type (standard or premium), liquidity, nationality,.....

Example: Santander (BNC) have a market cap of £46 billion, and would easily make the top 10 of the FTSE 100 index. However, Santander are not included in the FTSE 100 as they only have a Standard Listing on the London Stock Exchange. You need a Premium Listing to be included in any FTSE index.
(Difference between Premium and Standard listing is that Premium has more regulations.)
