For a while now I have been looking at alot of the well known DIY fund supermarkets and investment platforms including Hargreaves Lansdown, Bestinvest, iii, ATS, Cavendish & Fidelity. Although they all seem to offer something slightly different and currently have different charges it's hard to decide between them. I was…

Cash ISA or Santander 123?
The UK's top rate cash ISAs on MSE for example include Tesco at 2.3%, this appears to be less than the 3% interest (2.4% tax paid) on a Santander 123 account (with over £3000 in it), why would I bother to put £5760 now into this ISA, am I missing some point? Martin and everyone else keeps on about not losing your cash ISA…

Paying tax on shares
Hi I recieved some shares from my parents and now want to sell some. I have been told I can sell so many (up to a certain value) before I have to pay any taxes. Is this true and if so, what is the amount as I cannot find anywhere that mentions this? Thanks in advance.

Working out share price
Hi. I have come across various methods used for working out share prices, and am a bit stuck. I have inherited some shares in a family business which I don't really know too much about, and was wondering what their value might be should I come to sell them. Basically I have 10,169 shares that have paid half-yearly…

Moneyweek - British interest rates & debt....are we all doomed?
I have just listened to the latest Moneyweek presentation about UK debt. The theme was that due to the amount of debt that the UK has accumulated and the fact that we are still continuing to run up even more debt means that we will soon hit a crunch point where interest rates will increase leading to the UK becoming…

power of attorney rates
What would happen if an elderly person already had money in a long term fixed rate product --would it continue to run if a poa was suddenly needed to be registered? Im wondering too, if savings rates for people under the poa are dismal and not widely offered?
